Gentlemen,
On behalf of all pilots that flew into the brand new opened King Shaka airport in La Mercy yesterday, I would like to thank all VATSAF controllers and staff members for doing a terrific job.
All positions were filled way before the event officially started. Every air traffic controller I spoke to was extremly friendly and as helpful as anyone can be.
I invited an American friend to join me on the flight from Johannesburg to King Shaka and eventhough many procedures used and phraseology is somewhat different in South Africa than it is in the US, the warm welcome by VATSAF made him want to fly more in South African airspace.
Again congratulations to all of you folks! I am looking forward to the world cup.
