Hello there simmers,
As many of you know that REX is a great software to make the environment is FSX realistic. But the owner of REX has provided some free textures for people to make their game realistic. I know that REX is very expensive but these textures are absolutely free. Here are the textures:

Water Environment Reflection & Color Maps - FSX ONLY!

This package fixes the swirly and pixelated look of the shader 1x water within FSX, giving a smoother, more "true" color variation from dawn through dusk. Also includes a dreary water color environment texture when flying in overcast conditions.

Custom 3D Contrails - FSX ONLY!

This package updates the contrail system in FSX using a 3D smoke system.

Grass Texture I - FSX ONLY!

HD & standard resolution enhanced grass and environment bitmap for FSX.

There are two resolutions for this file - 1024, and high definition 4096. In order to view the full 4096 resolution within FSX, you will need to edit your fsx.cfg file and alter the entry:

TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=4096

NOTE: This value resets to 1024 each time you make any adjustments in the FSX DISPLAY settings, so you'll need to reset it back to 4096 if you want the high definition version displayed. REX will automatically set this value if launching FSX from the GUI.

Grass Texture II - FSX ONLY!

Sorry I couldn't upload the Screenshots but the screenshots are present in the downloaded file. They are pretty small in size and great way to same the environment a bit more realistic.

I'm sick of hearing all for FSX, I want to hear FS9 ish

Their beta testing for FS9 is taking to long, I can't wait... I'm spending all my bucks just to get that REX alike enhancement. Right now I'm with FS Elemental, which is just as great.

Grass textures will make your grass look realistic. Go ahead and download the file and see the pictures in the file.

What's that? I'm not familiar with the acronym.

Sorry to barge in here, but "GUI" stands for "Graphical User Interface". In other words, the menus you click on, or the small thumbnail-pictures or icons are all part of the GUI (as opposed to the actual coding "behind the scene").

GUI is basically the buttons and other things you click at. Did anybody tried the textures yet? If so, please leave a comment.

It looks good, but I have a few more questions?
1) Will it wreck the sand textures since they are sand and not grass, but be interfered by the addon to have grass?
2) Do you have to download grass pack one before 2 or can you just download 2 and not 1?

1) No, it is only for grass. Just remember to back up your files.
2) You have to download only 1. If you like grass 2, you can just download that withour grass one.

And i remember once when i downloaded taxiway textures, when you are high enough, all you could see was big boxes of the texture?? same thing happens here or no??
Thanks

No, there is no such lag caused by this texture. It works like the normal texture in FSX. The cause of your taxiway textures maybe because of your PC because some REX textures take longer to load. Its my guess, haven't seen that before.
