If you use x plane 11/12 : what 3 reasons cause you to choose x plane? reasons being maybe a certain feature, something you like, a design interest etc Same question for Fs2020 users! 😎🙂🤓

Yes, in Germany as well, because the average German PPL has no or only little command of the English language. Sad but true.

XPlane: 1. Clean install. Doesn't get spreadout through Windows filing system. All contained in the Folder you specify. 2. Faster frame speeds with my limited computer specs. 3. Just "feels" more realistic (for now). I think MSFS is catching up. 4. Current Airac's are free for the USA and easily install into XP. 5. User Interface is easier. Doesn't take nearly as long to change (I own both XP and MSFS).

My opinion: you can talk your national language on UNICOM until someone enters the area and clearly does not understand. In this moment all members in that area should switch to English language until everyone is "local" again.

MSFS2020: global 3-D ortho without having to learn a complicated add-on which will download massive amounts of proprietary imagery and government terrain data then spend 10 minutes per 1x1 tile to build a flat facsimile with some auto-generated buildings on it. I love X-Plane and I love Ortho4XP but I'm not sad to be done with the scenery building process.

What simulator software are you using? Independent from the SIM software, do as described by Michael - we sometimes count the taxiways in the real world as well. If you want a third party software, I highly recommend LittleNavMap. It is freeware and is actively being developed and improved.

I know this thread is pretty old, (like moi) and some of you may find this solution helpful or even amusing, but I've got the absolute perfect answer, for me anyway, to get read back instructions no matter what length, complexity, speed or accent of ATC controllers right first time without writing anything down on paper or worse, "say again".. It's something I put together myself which I call "Read Back Correct" and it really does the trick like magic. Here's how: £10 hand held Dictaphone from ebay with its mini mic placed in my headset ear piece. After my request to ATC for whatever, on release of PTT immediately press REC on above device. When he's done saying his stuff to you and himself actually, release REC and device auto rewinds in a second or two. Lean forward to device (secured next to my keyboard), so that my headset mic is near the device speaker, press device REP and my PTT together. At the end I chip in my callsign, release PTT. Result, after a moment of stunned surprise, the only possible reply from ATC: "Read back correct". Of course you may not have understood a word of what he said, but now you've got it on tape you can replay ad infinitum and even slow it down. Now that's magic! Cheers, Dennis
