  1. On Saturday the 4th and Sunday the 5th August, VATSIM members will gather in Birmingham for VATSIM UK Live! 2018. The purpose of this event is to co-locate as many VATSIM members in one place in order to socialise, control and fly together in an open and relaxed environment. We will try and open as many ATC positions in the UK as we can to ensure you can fly and join us virtually. We will start to control at around 1000z on both days and will be on until early evening. You can expect ATC at a number of UK airfields with enroute coverage on London and Scottish. We really hope that y
  2. Thanks for sharing this video, looks great!
  3. Airfield applications for Cross the Pond Eastbound 2017 are open. Applications may be filled out by logging into the CTP website (ctp.vatsim.net) and clicking on 'Airfield Application'. You must be able to commit your airfield to this event to submit this application (i.e. an events manager or similar appropriate staff member). If you want your airport to be considered, get in touch with your events staff! Applications are due no later than Wednesday 6th September at 22:00z. Regards Cross the Pond Planning Team
  4. The best thing to do is contact the UK team via their helpdesk or through the link below: https://www.vatsim-uk.co.uk/visit-transfer/
  5. There should be a list of controllers that are online. Right click on the one you want to listen to. Kris
  6. Hi Kyle, Couple of things: 1. Did you right click the controller callsign and select listen to frequency? 2. When you first logged in, did you select the correct headset on the hardware setup? Kris
  7. We are delighted to announce that this year’s VATSIM-UK Live! event will take place on the weekend of the 29th, 30th and 31st of July at Conference Aston. Live! is an annual real-world social event which is organised to allow VATSIM members, be that Pilots or Controller’s, to meet and work alongside each other. During the event, attendees will be working together in close proximity, which adds a new element to "as real as it gets". As this is a special year (our fifth anniversary!) we have a few surprises for you, including an event on Friday evening. More information to follow on that
  8. Hi Richard, VATSIM UK offers Pilot Training that you may be interested in to get started on the network. You can find out more and enrol via the link below: http://www.vatsim-uk.co.uk/pilot-training/
  9. Great video, thanks for putting it together Alex!
  10. Hi Richard, In the UK there are a large number of small airfields you can fly into while on the network but there isn't necessary a controller online always. You might want to consider joining CIX VFR Club which is a GA group based in the UK and who fly light aircraft on the network. https://www.cixvfrclub.org.uk/ They arrange flights together and that might help you get into the online flying aspect of your VFR flights. Kris
  11. If you get a chance, log in and have a look today. Should be very busy! Kris
  12. Hi Nikos, Routefinder does not take into considerations the restrictions for SIDs and will simply present what it thinks would work best. In this case LAM is only available for departures going to Heathrow so the controller is correct. The chart you found is correct in that there is a LAM SID but again this is for Heathrow only. Thanks, Kris
  13. For those who do not frequent the UK forums very often, Kieran Hardern has stepped down from his position of Deputy Director. Please see here for more information: http://community.vatsim-uk.co.uk/topic/30573-deputy-director-resignation/
  14. We are having some intermittent issues this evening on the vatsim-uk website which we are working to resolve. Kris
  15. William, You can only hold one account so you need to continue with the account you have just now. Kris
