  1. Position Title: Hit Squad Coordinator Reports to: Executive Committee Appointment: One year (extension by sub-committee recommendation) The Executive Committee is seeking to re-invigorate and revitalize the Hit Squad. The Hit Squad will now be administered by the Executive Committee. As part of this process the E.C. welcomes applications from suitable candidates to take on the new role of Hit Squad Coordinator. The Coordinator will answer directly to a sub-committee of the EC established to oversee the operations of the Hit Squad. The Coordinator will be required to oversee the day to day operations of the Hit Squad and to co-ordinate the various activities of the squad, when it is deployed. The Team Leader will also be involved in choosing new members of the Hit Squad. The Hit Squad will require a broad membership of individuals with a variety of skills including, but not limited to: • Facilitate staffing of unfamiliar airspace, with minimal lead time • Division Revitalization o Sector file development o Project management o Website development o Training material development o Leadership selection o Establish goals • Other responsibilities as set forth by the E.C. The Team Leader will need to demonstrate significant experience in at least one of these areas, wider experience is obviously favored. Other members of squad will be appointed after the Team Leader has been appointed, and expressions of interest from existing Hit Squad members, as well as potential new members will then be sought. The candidate must hold a rating of C1 or higher, have been an active member of the network for at least three years, have had a regular online presence in the past twelve months, and have a clean CERT record. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will be required to spend a minimum of 5 hours per week and be readily available via E-Mail and other communication methods, sometime at short-notice.   6. Like a lot of you already know. David had talk to me some days ago to tell me that he had make the decision to step down as Divisional Director of Brazil. He is stepping down due to new challenges on his personal life that requerid most of his time. This been said I will like you all, to join me and thank him for the work done on the division and the amount of hours that hi give to this Division and the Region for free. All of his great work had been seen by others and is going to be really hard to replace. Ones again Thank you David for your hard work.
  7. Regional Director VATSIM Africa and Middle East Applications are now open for the position of Regional Director VATSIM Africa and Middle East. Within the VATSIM AME Region there are four divisions. Overall VATSIM AME Region (VATAME) administers a large geographical area covering the whole African continent, the Middle East, and parts of the Indian and Atlantic Oceans. The Region Director manages and overseas each of these divisions and acts as the link between the Divisions and the VATSIM Board of Governors. The duties below are intended for further delegation in part but ultimate responsibility lies with the Region Director as defined under Article III of the Code Regulations of VATSIM. A Region Director is expected to be able to commit to at least 3 years and should take this into consideration before applying. The Regional Director is a full voting member of the Executive Committee Responsible to: The VATSIM Board of Governors Responsible for: Regional Management Team, Divisional Management Teams and overall Leadership within the VATSIM Africa Middle East Region Duties As defined under Article III of the Code of Regulations of VATSIM • Review, monitor, develop and implement changes to the overall VATSIM system with a particular focus on the Africa Middle East Region to achieve optimum efficiency and interest. • Interact with the Members of the Board of Governors, Executive Committee, and/or Division Directors as needed to accomplish these tasks • Ensure that an online presence of ATC is not only maintained across the Region which encourages maximum coverage, but above all look for growth opportunities and increases in on line presence. • Monitors underlying Divisions are maintaining an environment where pilots enjoy flying and ATCs enjoy controlling. • Evaluates ATC progression with the relevant Divisional Training/Membership Director(s), ensuring that upgrade recommendations are acted upon promptly and that any unnecessary local bureaucracy or barriers are removed. • Presents, publishes, and discusses the Quarterly Division Reports to the VATSIM Executive Committee • Must attend all quarterly EC meetings (and meet regularly with division staff) • General oversight across the region as to provision of adequate web services, to include items such as aeronautical charts, sector files, contact details, training information • Oversees the efficiency of the joining and progression processes including (but not limited to) introduction and possible enhancement of welcome email systems and evaluation website usability • Pursue matters raised within the Region in relation to membership issues such as training delays, member exclusion and new/returning member induction • Manages and oversees the Strategic growth of the region, working with partners within the region and in neighbouring areas • Support and facilitate further development of Pilot Training Scheme across the region • Support Oceanic control activities in the relevant sections of airspace • Commit to the requirement to maintain an online presence of no less than one hour per week and eight hours per month logged in under the call sign that indicates that he or she is the Regional Director. • Other tasks as required by the BoG Person Specification The successful candidate will have significant experience on the VATSIM network, extensive familiarity with network policies and procedures in the Africa and Middle East region and strong management and communication skills. While not required, previous service in staff positions will be favourably considered • Must show awareness of Air Traffic Control operations, and hold at least a C1 rating. A knowledge of Oceanic operations will be advantageous but not essential • Must show awareness of Pilot operations, ideal candidate will hold at least a P1 rating • Must be a member in good standing with the network • Expected to be able to commit at least 8 hours per week to this role • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively through different mediums to different people of different cultures, backgrounds and nationalities. This is most important in this particular Region. • Fluent in spoken and written English language. Fluency in any language widely spoken in the Region would also prove beneficial to the successful applicant.
