  1. In the UK you can issue vectors, but it's very restricted. From CAP493 (the ATC "manual"); Essentially, the end result is in the UK we give a geographical routing (points to fly to and report over / nearby / hold at that are visible on the ground). The reason being that the pilot has to maintain VMC and safe separation, so the controller giving headings takes some this ability away. The UK is also slightly odd in that most airspace is Cl[Mod - Happy Thoughts] A (TMAs and airways), so no VFR. Cl[Mod - Happy Thoughts] D is used around aerodromes at low level, so it's generally a case of in
  2. Here is my new set-up for Manchester, designed to look the real-world screens; The ATM on the left and SMR on the right The Radar Approach screen on the right, SMR again on the right
  3. http://www.nats-uk.ead-it.com/public/index.php%3Foption=com_content&task=blogcategory&id=4&Itemid=11.html Is ENR6 (near the bottom) what you are looking for?
  4. You said yourself the controller didn't respond- they probably got disconnected, and couldn't turn you back.
  5. Hello, Just posting to say a m[Mod - Happy Thoughts]ive thank-you to Reece Hunter, controlling OAK_CTR at around 21:30z on the 5th. First time in a while I've flow across the Atlantic to the USA- and to be welcomed into SFO was excellent. Even better, after one little private message, Reece obliged my request and vectored me (VIR19) and UAL931 for parallel approaches into 28L and 28R. I must say, it was an excellent end to the flight- the control was absolutely top-notch and even though it must have been quite a bit of work for him, he still managed to get us two in onto the two runway
  6. Just putting together a few things from your posts- [Mod - Happy Thoughts]uming that you were flying into Dublin at FL280- the standing agreement between controllers in the UK and Ireland is to have you at FL200 by the sector boundary- which is 60nm from Dublin. FL280 at 100nm is well within that range. ATC quite often have to take people off the standard routing- to avoid traffic, or just to give you a contonious descent. Unfortunately, as you couldn't get hold of the controller, his connection may have dropped out- or a server split occurred- so he was unable to vector you back. Be c
  7. Sector file for Blackpool that I put together, quite pleased with myself
  8. Evidently you didn't see it this evening In any event, Northern RTS is the one you want for Manchester, and I can [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ure you, there is plenty of traffic usually. If you are interested, drop by our temporary forums, where we have some backups of the sector files; http://www.joplin.me.uk/nrts/index.php If you do decide to take up controlling at Manchester, I look forward to hearing from you.
  9. That does sound excellent, the intention codes wouldn't quite work with controller tags, as it depends on FIR exit, though I will look and see how feasible it is, especially with a new version coming.
  10. [Mod - Happy Thoughts]uming you want to get back with northern, we have a temporary forum until the main website returns. Somebody has uploaded some of our sector files as well, so worth taking a look; http://www.joplin.me.uk/nrts/index.php I would recommend that you do drop into the TS server, with any luck an admin will get you registered and you won't end up in anybody's way, we are more than happy to help out.
  11. I'm sure you can see why Callum responded in the way he did to that post- it does sound, to me at least, to be saying that it's unfair Northern is doing something about the situation. Anyway, back on topic, is there any news on how OBS->STU rating changes will happen, [Mod - Happy Thoughts]uming that our beloved RTS system will not return in a while, it would be useful to know if/what is in the works.
  12. Would it be possible to add some features that will allow Euroscope to realistically simulate most UK radar screens (a similar post is in the VRC forums); The main changes that I would see being useful are; Implementation of UK "intention codes"; the last two letters of the ICAO are shown for airfields inside the UK, For flights to the Dublin area (EIDW and nearby) DW is shown for the intention code, For flights to/near Amsterdam AM is shown, For flights into the Brussels TMA EB is shown, For all other flights, intention codes are shown depending upon the point of exit of the L
  13. As an addition, the Parkair mode in VRC gets close, but does not properly simulate the intention codes, if somebody could get the intention codes to work, then it would be excellent. (Either Euroscope or VRC); For airports inside the UK Parkair works correctly- the last two letters of the ICAO are shown, For flights to the Dublin area (EIDW and nearby) DW is shown for the intention code, For flights to/near Amsterdam AM is shown, For flights into the Brussels TMA EB is shown, For all other flights, intention codes are shown depending upon the point of exit of the London FIR; In a
