  1. Some great discussion points. Reminding us of how new pilots may be scared away due to a bad first impression is important. I remember a controller when I was a new pilot I flew out of JFK an made a lot of mistakes. Nicholas Gonzalez was the controller and his gentle approach to one of my first times flying is the reason I kept flying - this was over 10 years ago. Thanks!
  2. Thanks for the post, Greg! It looks like a great opportunity for a creative personality to brainstorm, and develop, event ideas within an active FIR. If you have read the above post and thought it sounds interesting, but you don't feel you would be eligable, or that you might not have the experience, send me a quick email, and perhaps we can discuss how you might be able to fit into this roll! Thanks all Tim
  3. The Canadian Xpress® vPilot Model Set is an add-on plug-in for vPilot which allows all pilots flying on the VATSIM network (that are using the vPilot client) to see any Canadian Xpress® aircraft in its true colors instead of the generic colors. The Canadian Xpress® vPilot Model Set can be downloaded by visiting the vPilot Model Set link via the Downloads menu. http://canadianxpress.ca/

  6. Moncton Monday is VATCAN’s longest running weekly event, providing full-coverage ATC every Monday night, beginning at 2200z, encomp[Mod - Happy Thoughts]ing over six terminal controlled airports, and dozens of smaller fields. Each Monday, airports including Halifax (CYHZ), Moncton (CYQM), St. John’s (CYYT), and Gander (CYQX), will be staffed from top to bottom, including Moncton Centre, in a fun and relaxed Monday night. All kinds of traffic, whether VFR or IFR, airplane or helicopter, are welcome and pilots of all skill levels are invited, so come and fly our friendly skies!
  7. Thanks all. Michael, I will send you an email. Hopefully we can connect on VATCAN's TS3 server this week. All the best, TIm
  8. Thanks for the information! I will likely have to look at example code to understand how PHP is integrated. I have experience with C programming, but nothing with PHP. Thanks for your help! Tim
  9. Hi folks. I have seen it on other websites. I would like to integrate the feature that lists all of my FIR's controllers with their current month's hours. As they control, the hours update automatically. Anyone know where I can get more information on this? Thanks, Tim
  10. Announcement: Congratulations Ryan Sernoskie on promotion to S3 Rating after excelling in his OTS Exam tonight! Thanks to the VATSIM community for their continued support in providing fabulous traffic!
  11. Topic: S3 Terminal OTS When: Monday Feb. 24 @ 2359Z Where: Halifax, Nova Scotia (CYHZ) Ryan Sernoskie has been working hard towards his S3 Terminal Rating. Ryan will have the chance to earn his rating this Monday, February 24, during our weekly event Triple M: Moncton Montreal Monday! VATSIM requires Air Traffic Controllers to undergo extensive online and offline training to ensure the controller can accurately handle the traffic patterns. During each stage of a controllers career hundreds of hours are dedicated to mastering this trade, starting as an OBS, and working through to C1.
  12. Family dinner out this evening - however I heard the guys had a great night! Did you fly in/out tonight Robbie? Hope it was fun We likely will be seeing more and more pilots flying as the nights get shorter. Tim
