  2. Correct me if I'm wrong please, but I believe in the UK they do refer to altitudes as Flight levels... no?
  3. Make sure to check out our updated PILOT SECTION of our webpage for details of flying at ZNY here: http://www.nyartcc.org/prc Also, when you click on the LaGuardia Airport (KLGA) link, you can find lots of KLGA Specific Information here: http://www.nyartcc.org/prc/lga Come celebrate Christmas in Flushing tomorrow night!!!
  4. The time in the topic subject has been changed to 2359 to add clarity. My apologies for the confusion.
  5. Daniel, you are correct. The Friday Night Ops event will be held on Friday, not Thursday.
  6. Daniel, First, welcome to VATSIM. Second, we (as controllers) don't typically schedule our time with individual virtual pilots. Our controlling schedule is the same as the virtural pilots flying schedule, we get online when we can. I would suggest you do two things: (1) Read and review the VATSIM PRC found here: http://www.vatsim.net/prc/, and then (2) download one of the many software programs that show what ATC is currently online (VATSpy, Vroute, Vattastic, etc.). When you see that your area is covered, you can boot up the flight sim and off you go. Good luck!
  7. Join us for our Third Annual Christmas FNO! Friday Night Ops: Christmas in Flushing Featuring LaGuardia Airport (KLGA) Come Home for the Holidays and Celebrate Christmas in the Big Apple! Friday, December 23rd 2011 2359z - 0400z (7:00 - 11:00 PM EST)
  8. Right now, forecast shows partly cloudy, high of 44 degrees, winds out of the WNW @ 11. HOWEVER, anyone that lives in the northeast knows, the weather can turn nasty in a moments notice
  9. A nor'easter is a type of macro-scale event along the East Coast of the United States, so named because air traffic surrounds the northeast, especially around the airports of JFK, LGA, EWR, and PHL. The legendary Nor'Easter returns to New York ARTCC on Saturday, December 17th, 2011. It's coming, will you be ready? For more information visit http://www.nyartcc.org/Noreaster2011
  10. ZNY's Helicopter Night: River Tour (JRA) Come explore ZNY's heliports and the new New York Special Flight Rules Area! Featuring All ZNY Heliports! Thursday, November 17th 2011 6:00 - 8:00 PM EST (2300z - 0100z +1) Download NY Heliport Scenery Here: http://www.metrohelo.org/download/?content=scenery (Note, the downloadable scenery for JRB available on the Metro website was originally designed for FS2004, and as such, will not work with FSX without a conversion application ($20 payware item - see http://www.flightsimtools.com/adconvx/). If pilots use Aerosoft's Scenery M
  11. This was a great event!!! Thank you to all the pilots who flew in to KJFK. You made this event incredibly successful! The winds allowed us to use a very unique overflow configuration at JFK: Landing VOR13L and Visual 22L simultaneously. This allowed us to increase our AAR and avoid the usual "congo line" into one runway. It also gave alot of you the opportunity to try out the challenging VOR13L approach. Again, Thank you to all involved. We had a blast and we hope you did too!!
  12. I may be wrong, but I think it might be difficult to navigate from VOR (or NDB) to VOR (or NDB) without having charts. I would be interested in learning how to use that style of navigation without knowing frequencies or airspace cl[Mod - Happy Thoughts]ifications...
  13. ZBW, ZNY, and ZOB are pleased to announce a Fall Northeast FNO featuring our smaller airfields! Featuring Albany (ALB), Bradley (BDL), Buffalo (BUF), Islip (ISP), Ithaca (ITH), and Pittsburgh (PIT)! Friday, October 7th, 2011 8:00 PM - 12:00 AM EDT Join us and crisscross the northeast!
