  2. VATSIM does not tell any pilot what callsign to use, nor any VA, outside of a few cases like VATSIMxx or VATGOVxx. Therefore there is no point in maintaining a registry of codes that belong to no one.

  6. In the Staff, BOG, Meeting Minutes section of the vatsim.net site.
  7. Only thing publicly available from the db is the status of a CID and the name attached to it.
  8. The VATSIM servers will experience maintenance over the next two days. While we will try to not affect pilot and ATC connections, there is no guarantee they won't be affected. Usually switching to an alternative server will alleviate this problem. Some web services may also be affected on specific servers and may not be available for short periods of time. The forums will not be affected and you can find updates posted here if things don't go as planned and we need to communicate any additional downtime or loss of services. Thank you for your patience with these important upgrades a
  9. Randy, They are nowhere near close enough to warrant any testing outside their group yet, they aren't up to alpha testing stage much less beta. It will come though.
  10. Not exactly. A member brought them a proposal and they hired him to implement it. And it doesn't affect controller training at all as they use other pilot resources for instructors and mentors.
  11. In fact the pilot rating program was designed specifically NOT to scavenge scarce controller resources at all. But every checkride requires a minimum time with VATSIM ATC. that's one of the sneaky secrets of the whole gig, it was designed to provide ATC with more blips who would be good community members. But I digress; this thread is about the reasons why something different for ATC structure won't work in the USA.
  12. Andreas, can you speak to the training and certification for the controllers you guys use for this effort in EUD? There seems to be a concern about the training load implementation might place on local facilities.
  13. Its just feedback. You don't have to like it, you don't have to agree with it, but it is his perspective. there might be something to learn for next time in it, might not, but if you reject it outright claiming he doesn't understand you miss the chance to make an event better next time. Best way to respond is to say, "Thank you for your feedback, it will be given to the organizers for future reference." All this ill bandwidth could be spared.
  14. Two best choices for Las Vegas are North Las Vegas, KVGT, north of the strip but coming in from the east you aim at the Stratosphere tower and hang a right, puts you on the downwind, and there is a shuttle bus to haul you to the casinos for free sponsored by the city. The other is Henderson, KHND, south of the city. Both are hot GA fields in rl.
  15. Any of the ATOs listed in the link below offer the P1 VATSIM Online Pilot Rating which covers all the basics through your first flight online. http://linksmanager.com/vatsimvas/authorised-training-organisation.html You can also find information in the Pilot Resource Center found at vatsim.net/prc
  16. I don't .wallop non-responsive pilots anymore because the supervisors that have always responded to calls for such incidents have asked for a screen capture indicating the times of my attempts to contact. I have no disrespect for the SUPs that asked for them but the process is flawed for controllers in these situations. If I have a conflict now with a non-responsive pilot, action needs to be taken now, not 30 minutes from now. If you aren't going to be at your screen for a long haul, either log off or don't start it. That is my $.02. Let the flaming commence... If you have a conflict
  17. I was on during the first half and didn't get very many wallops.
  18. fseconomy.com While you can have a separate web site, you don't need one to form a group and start flying. Has its own client for FS9/FSX/XP and all free. Log books are already there and groups can have a small part of the forum for their use. One of the best parts is it is 100% VATSIM compatible.
  19. You should contact the event coordinators in both places. They may not read these notices.
  20. FSrealWX lite http://www.hanse-coders.net/index.php?page=self&id=1 This was posted in the FSEconomy forum today, seems like a timely topic. Haven't used it personally but trust the guy who recommended it.
  21. He said contact him by PM. So, if you have something to say, send it to him in a PM.
  22. In short, Blake doesn't understand the VSOA rules or he'd know the mission described isn't a violation of those rules for a VSOA. I just wanted to put a marker here on that so future readers weren't confused or mislead by his statements. I think we'll close this topic now.
  23. The price of airplanes in FSE is set by a formula that [Mod - Happy Thoughts]umes +75% loaded for 150 hours and you get your investment back. The payment for jobs has increased since the forumla was set so I'd say the payback is closer to 120 hours these days, provided you fly each hour at 75% or more loaded. Many aspects of rw aircraft pricing can't really be replicated in FSE, like leather seats or specific avionics capabilities, geographic location (some Russian aircraft aren't certified to fly in the US but are in FSE), year of manufacture, incident records, etc. The price does chang
