  1. Thanks for the response, guys; much appreciated. As the volunteer events manager for my VA, and as the volunteer web manager for Nova Scotia's provincial honours band - which involves keeping 50+ musicians and their families up to date on rehearsals, making their individual music parts available for download, photographing and recording rehearsals and performances, along with website security and member management - I appreciate the efforts of volunteers. I do this for the people I serve, without getting a cent in return, just like VATSIM volunteers. Andreas, "Don't forget, it does n
  2. Sadly, CTP communications is going from bad to worse. The website is woefully incomplete. I logged on about nine days ago to see what was up. Voting for airports was going on; no closure date posted. I voted. I saw a tweet yesterday saying to expect the list of departure and arrival airports today. I saw a tweet today indicating the departure/arrival airports but that information is nowhere on the website. (My preferred arrival airport made the cut; my preferred departure airport did not; that's how voting works.) No word on the website about when sign-ups begin. No word on the
  3. Okey-dokey, thanks for the response. See you at 0000Z on the 15th. Hmmmm.... Beware the Ides of March, said Shakespeare! (grin)
  4. Do we have a start time on the 13th (today) for registrations?
  5. My issue with CTP is their poor communication with the community. To qualify that, I find the communication around the westbound events is always better than the eastbound events. That's my perception, anyhoo. Why does CTP go to the effort of building a website if most of the meaningful communication/information will be on this forum or Discord or Facebook? At the very least, anything posted on any of those other media should be simultaneously available on the CTP website. I follow the event on Twitter but I've been spending less time there than in the past. Just checked... Twelve ho

  11. vUAL has withdrawn its support for this event. We have been in constant e-mail contact with the event organizers for months and learned today about the sign-up site being up and running, and that our requested destination (YMML) was not part of the event. An e-mail went to VATPAC Events today, asking how we slipped through the cracks. We also removed Sydney RealOPS from our event schedule.
  12. From https://www.vatsim.net/news/restructuring-pilot-rating-system: "VATSIM’ [sic] Authorized Training Organizations are already working hard to implement these new changes in their training programme,..." VATSTAR's response, March 5: "Starting April 1st, you will not be able to book training for P3 or P5. We will keep the material online but there will not be any Written Exams or Checkrides, and we won't be providing certifications for them any longer. P1, P2, and P4 we will continue, as always. We are not closing our organization; But with the changes VATSIM is making, traini
  13. Virtual United Airlines is working with VATNZ and VATPAC on a Cross the Ditch event for our quarterly VATSIM Partner event. We've been back and forth on dates and times. The working date, from VATNZ, is June 21 (June 20 for North America/Europe) and I'm guesstimating it will start up around 1800Z/June 20, subject to confirmation from VATNZ/VATPAC. Virtual United Airlines always leaves the door open for any VATSIM pilot to join in our events and since this is also a VATNZ/VATPAC event, consider yourself invited. 15. To celebrate our Star Alliance partner TAP's 75th (diamond) anniversary, Virtual United Airlines http://www.virtualunitedairlines.org will fly out of Lisbon (LPPT) at 1800z March 14 (01:00 pm EST) and make our way to the Funchal Airport (LPMA), about two hours away. This piggybacks on a tentative vACC Portugal event that day, but we'll let them fill you in on that. Naturally, any VATSIM pilot is welcome to join vUAL for this event. It's a windy, treacherous approach - we need to be on our toes - pilots may set their sim to daylight. (Add a note to your VATSIM flight plan's comments if
