  1. These things happen, don't worry! Being new to the network is daunting, and you're BOUND to make mistakes. However you're in luck - because making mistakes does no harm here! We have all been new, and we have all made mistakes (even though some don't like to admit it). You'll find that as you gain more hours and experience, you'll start to make less and less mistakes; but you'll never be "perfect". πŸ™‚ Only thing I can say is: Welcome!
  2. Looking for an event? Every week, VATSIM Facilities from around the world host some really amazing events for VATSIM Pilots and Air Traffic Controllers to participate in. We want to keep you all up to date with how you can stay informed about our events, and as such we have a home for them on the social media platforms you love. This forum is no longer the main platform for finding events as we have transitioned to a dedicated and more organized platform for our organizers. You will however still continue find events from unofficial partners and groups here! Finding VATS
  3. In this forum you will find information about events and group flights from all around the globe! NOTE: If you are an Events Coordinator or marketing representative from a VATSIM Region, Divison or subdivision, you should only post events through the myVATSIM platform. If you haven't yet got the permissions to do so, contact your vACC/FIR Director. For our official and unofficial partners, you are more than welcome to post here! When doing so, please conform to the event posting requirements. The marketing team will only promote events from our official partners and facilities,
  4. Hey, make sure you're capitalizing correctly! Passwords to the voice servers are now case-sensitive. πŸ™‚
  5. Hello Alessio! I'm sorry you're experiencing this. I have notified our network tech team, and they will be investigating it as soon as possible. Hopefully it will be fixed shortly! Welcome to VATSIM!
  6. There's no member by that name in the Discord.. Where exactly are you in the process?
  7. Tomas is right, you haven't yet completed your P0 exam. πŸ™‚ Instructions will be in your email and on the link Tomas provided!
  8. Hi Jayden; welcome! VATSIM works independently of the multiplayer settings in MSFS. You should set the multiplayer setting to "group" and AI setting to "off". VATSIM will inject traffic into your simulator via the client. πŸ™‚ Try and see if that helps, if not - check that there are other planes present at your location by using a service like https://vattastic.com. πŸ™‚ If it still doesn't work, check back here!
  9. You are using the AFV Standalone, which is for controllers and not for pilots. Pilots need to use one of VATSIM's Pilot Clients, for FSX I recommend downloading vPilot.
  10. What browser are you using? I just successfully downloaded it... You are on this page, right? https://vpilot.metacraft.com/Download
  11. [MOD: Moved to "General Discussion] Welcome to the network, Brian! πŸ™‚
  12. Hi Andrew! There was a glitch a short while ago which interrupted the upgrade process for some. We're sorry for the inconvenience, but the best way to get it is by resubmitting it. πŸ™‚ It will be dealt with promptly!
  13. Hello again David! This issue is being resolved, it's caused by a technical glitch that occurred somewhere around when you got your upgrade. Your account will be upgraded to the correct rating shortly, it might take a little bit of time, but you should have it within the next couple of days. Take care!
  14. Hi David! This seems like a tech issue. I am investigating it and we'll get your rating upgraded as soon as possible! Sorry for the inconvenience!
  15. Are you running xPilot on a different machine? I am not exactly sure why you're fiddling around in the networking and data output setting windows, you shouldn't have to go there. Also, what exactly happens when you try to connect, can you show the main xPilot window, what error are you getting?
  16. Can you show us the radio stack in the airplane, are you sure you had enabled COM1 receive in the Audio Control Panel? Some planes simulate this, and you need to manually push in and/or twist the knob clockwise to recieve radio signals. This is indicated by the currently greyed out "RX" button turning white. As for the wallop problem, what exactly did you type? It looks like you didn't write anything after. A wallop should include the phrase ".wallop", but also a brief description of the problem. If you don't write anything after the actual phrase, you will get an error like that. πŸ™‚
  17. I am sure they are aware, but I can't imagine it being a very prioritized case there now.. πŸ™‚ I'm sure it'll all come eventually!
  18. Ask and thou shall recieve... πŸ˜‰https://fselite.net/news/rex-announces-weather-force-2020-for-microsoft-flight-simulator/
  19. Hi! You are totally correct in the banner not fitting the current vatsim.net page. We are putting that page to rest in the near future, and we’re rebuilding it from the ground up. We made those guidelines with the future in mind, in addition to our several other media platforms as Nestor says. πŸ™‚ We are aware that it creates some implications and extra work in the first couple of weeks, but VATSIM needed a standard banner size in order to better facilitate and standarize as much as we can!
  20. VATSIM is a place for everyone to enjoy great service at no expense. VATSIM is also worldwide, which means we have people all across the demographical chart, spanning all age groups, ethnicities, political views etc... The downside to this, is that you sometimes get a cultural and ethics. Yes, VATSIM holds itself to high standards in regards to member attitude and behavior, but as with all networks and communities that allow for user-to-user communication, you are going to get conflicts. In fact, seeing how much VATSIM's users interact and how deeply integrated that is in the network, it
  21. All planes supported by the simulators VATSIM endorses are ready to fly on the network (within reason, no flying pigs on X-plane). It is the pilot's responsibility to make sure he/she has the competency required for that specific airframe to perform the procedures he/she requests. You don't need FLCH, you don't need LNAV, those are just tools to reduce pilot workload. Are you able to manually change the heading during an 18 hour flight? Probably not, or I sure don't hope so. But it doesn't mean it's not ready to be used on the network, and controllers or other pilots are not in any author
  22. Are you having trouble seeing other VATSIM traffic in MSFS? Submit details about it on this topic! Make sure: - Set your multiplayer and A.I. settings both to "off". - There is traffic where you are, and that there are supposed to be planes there - You tell us which version of vPilot you are using. Thank you!
  23. One possible temporary but tedious workaround that I can see is having vPilot "interpret" and round up or down frequencies manually if it senses that it is an abnormal frequency, and then send an automatic ".com1" command back with the correct one. It might take a lot of work however, and not sure if it is worth the effort..
  24. The question has now been deleted, thanks for the heads up!
