  1. I'm running the "trial" way past the time limit with no issues. As far as the temps, I don't see the same issue, but I switched to vPilot when it came out. For my simpler needs, it "just works" and don't have the sometimes odd issues with FSInn. FSInn offers a lot more flexibility and features, so you have to weigh that issue before making a change.
  2. Once the app is installed, you need to change it to SimConnect in the options. I'm not in front of my sim PC right now or I'd try to post something to walk through it. I switched to the new version mentioned on the main page: http://www.fsrealwx.net/ I'll agree that the docs leave much to be desired.
  3. I won't be able to make it Saturday night, but I'll be with you guys in spirit. Helpful info: http://avcams.faa.gov/gmap.php FAA website with an embedded Google Map of the weather webcams so you can check real vs. sim weather for fun the Kake Camera: http://avcams.faa.gov/viewsite.php?bookmark=71XBZOO6
  4. Flew the first two legs in the Pilatus last night and energy management was tough. Might fallback to the Lancair for this one. If I have time, I'm also thinking of pulling a couple of the airports into ADE and modify the AFCADs to current. Anyone else have ideas on scenery updates?
  5. I called my guy in Anchorage and he's got me lined up for their Pilatus PC-12. I had to promise him a bunch of dried moose meat and a case of Coors to get it ferried over to Skagway. When I told him what we were doing he said "why on earth would you want to go to Kake?" and the best answer I could give him was "because it's there". Steve
  6. Non-pro tip: Bank some money for a new propeller after the landing at PAFE runway 29: (via Skyvector's airport page for PAFE - Kake Airport) Dimensions: 4000 x 100 feet / 1219 x 30 meters Surface: Asphalt in Poor Condition RY 29 PATCHES HAVE DETERIORATED; RESULTING IN LOOSE ROCKS THAT CAN DAMAGE PROPELLERS, ETC.
  7. I did and have yet to see this error again. I'm thinking that we might cross this off for now. Also as a side note- When the client can't find a model to match, it puts a note in the text window. It's particularly frustrating when you're typing in the "chat" line and the window switches "focus" and your typing is screwed up. Hard to explain...
  8. I can do debugging...never done the INI. Did a quick Google search: [SimConnect] level=verbose console=1 ;RedirectStdOutToConsole=1 ;OutputDebugString=1 ;file=c:\simconnect%03u.log ;file_next_index=0 ;file_max_index=9 Created a new empty text file. Put that text above in it. Named it SimConnect.ini and put it in the My Docomeents \ Flight Simulator X Files folder. Launched vPilot while running FSX already on a flight with the PMDG 777 and no other add-on apps other that the before mentioned weather. So far no issues.
  9. Actually, the only other app is FSrealWX Lite to inject weather via FSUIPC...I'm running some tests this morning to see if I can reproduce this.
  10. I have the same problem: FSX with Acceleration No SimConnect client listed as installed in Programs (makes sense) vPilot runs on same PC as FSX tried the DirectX web installer linked previously--said I had a newer one installed so nothing happened. Update: I'm running FSUIPC unregistered --- This happened right after the sim crashed. vPilot runs until I click "continue" or "quit" in a dialog box with this message: "Unhandled exception hqas occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click

  12. Here's my experience running vPilot on the same PC as FSX: Core2 Due E7500 2.93GHz 8GB RAM DDR2 1033 Nvidia GT210 Locked happily at 20FPS -No perceptible FPS hit -using 39,680K memory in Task Manager and barely any processor usage. Never did I think I would get something this good so soon after he started. Simply amazing. Now I have to un-learn the last year of FSInn habits and expectations. By the way, never a warble or voice issue. Thanks ROSS!
  13. Thanks Ross! Easy setup and operation, low impact (almost no impact) on my PC. Now it's time to finally buy an AI traffic package...
  14. Use pcpartpicker.com and enter your parts. It has a compatibility checker and should be able to suggest a motherboard.
