  2. Won't you be my neighbor? On March 20th, 1928, the world was gifted with a child by the name of Fred McFeely Rogers. He would go on to create one of the greatest preschool television series, known as Mr. Roger's Neighborhood. The show would run for 33 years (ending in 2001), and would focus on many developmental aspects of life (including death, moving, divorce, and even war). The show would be the second longest running children's show ever, and one of the most unforgettable for most all of us today. Come and join us on March 20th, from 2300z to 0300z, at Pittsburgh International (KPIT),

  8. I'll try that and report back. Thanks!! edit: seems (so far) to have resolved the issue. currently doing some ground at Cleveland, and no issues to report. Odd that I somehow ended up with a port issue but whatever I'll take the easy fix!
  9. So just recently I've been having a problem with VRC, where if I don't key in/transmit in a certain amount of time (not sure of the exact time frame but it isn't long), I stop hearing voice. This has even happened during an FNO, which was when I first noticed the problem (the "not so bermuda" triangle event). It's very recent, only having started up this past month. Never had an issue before then. Any ideas? Others can hear on the frequency just fine, it's only me that stops hearing. But once I go ahead and key in and transmit (even if it's for just a second or 2), things work again.
  10. Disabling the auto elevation for all airports fixed the issue. So good to know for anyone else having this issue!!
  11. Okay so I've done a lot of googling lately, and I can't seem to find the right answer. Here is what I'm currently running: P3d v4 Active Sky 2016 + cloud art PMDG 737 ORBX Global, Vector, and North America FSDT GSX and KDFW vPilot When I used to be on FSX, I never saw aircraft that hovered. I believe it has something to do with UTX and terrain levels (from google searching) but not 100% sure. Now it seems like every single aircraft is much much higher then me. They are floating in the air. I thought it was a once occurrence, but during Friday's FNO, almost every aircraft was highe
  12. Thanks for all the information you guys!!! I'm going to read it tonight!
  13. Decided I'd do a flight from my hometown (Pittsburgh) to Keflavik (BIKF). Having never done an Oceanic flight, I knew they were different, but it's a huge culture shock from the simple ATC you get from my usual flights between Boston and east coast USA... So any tips or suggestions so I don't feel like a deer in headlights next time I do this I know about the position report now (last fix/time, flight level, estimated next fix and time), but it seems like a lot to me haha.. I mean what's the best way to estimate time? Just do some match based on your mach and how far out you are? I
  14. I am using a wired connection (Comcast). Pretty decent speeds. Just surprised it's been happening recently. So far the flight is going well and no other disconnects.
  15. Got an error message again today (error message was in red): [03:14:02] Network error: EndReceive failed: (10060) A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond. [03:14:02] Disconnected from network. I have only been on for 5 minutes, was just setting the jet up at the gate. No messages from anyone, ATC is offline currently in Boston.
  16. Joined Cleveland today! That exam was pretty simple. Easier then I thought. Going to register with the website and everything else once the kiddo is napping!
  17. Too true, too sad. Really needs payware scenery I have megascenery pittsburgh and night environment x and it's nicer then autogen, but I really wish it wasn't flat photo scenery... if like someone to create pittsburgh with actual buildings and such... it definitely needs more love.
  18. Interesting point. I fly usually as jet blue 1986, but once I was going to Vegas and heard someone as jet blue 1980. Thankfully they were on the ground at lax and it was easy to distinguish whose call was for who but I could see that being confusing.
  19. I think it's still a bit rude to do that..... I don't know if it means much, but when I was first flying in the comments I always put "Beginner on Vatsim". I don't know how helpful that was to any of you, but I couldn't imagine dc'ing and reconnecting like that. I had tons of nerves/shaky hands (and pretty sure I messed up a lot... especially read backs), but I never intentionally disconnected/reconnected...
  20. After flying through LA center, and flying from Boston to JFK, I can't believe how much traffic is dealt with. I think that I could manage setting some times for training, but yeah it would be a slow process (which I don't mind at all). I would like the variation in traffic, and definitely the fact that it's not hectic !
  21. That's good news! I'm going to do some more reading and stuff (and more practice flying) and then probably try to join. Would love to make more virtual traffic through our area
  22. Getting some interest in controlling, and just reading up for now. Going through some docomeentation and Cleveland ARTCC's website, but how full is Cleveland? Curiosity peaked for me as it seems like most of the time I'm on to fly, Cleveland isn't. Though I've been lucky a lot and they pop on mid-flight. I just like flying around my hometown, and think it would be cool to control the area. The biggest question I have is in regards to times. Having a kid it's not really easy to say when I'll be on. With flying I can usually know that night if it's going to be a good night to fly, and can ho
  23. A good thing I've found is to make sure you are prepared ahead of time for any changes atc will issue. Keep your heading indicator pointing in your current direction (as an example) so that if atc says "jet blue 1986 turn right heading 180", you know you can switch to heading hold immediately and then start turning the knob right until you reach 180. I would imagine a lot of new pilots don't do that and it makes it harder on them to follow the directions given. For me it's uaually: 1. Get message from atc 2. Start to do what atc requests (so if told to turn right, start the turn) 3.
  24. Yeah the correct answer was to execute, then respond.
  25. I have seen some trolls, but honestly I don't see them that often. The last time I saw a troll was a month or 2 ago, and it was some kid just being ridiculous... I just took my p1 rating now and p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]ed it. I only got 2 questions wrong, and the one question I didn't know. The other I got wrong was about execution of commands, in which I answered c (do both, or execute first if text) figuring that when you are voice, you usually can do both at the same time. But I still knew that doing what ATC says always comes first. The one I didn't know was what to do when no superviso
