  1. Hi Deon, The event description has been altered slightly. Please could it be updated on the events page. Kind Regards, Ben
  2. VATSIM UK is happy to invite you back to our staff up of Gatwick! Home to some of Europe's largest airlines, including British Airways, easyJet, Ryanair, TUI, Virgin, and Norwegian - there's something for everyone. Whether you'll be doing a 30 minute hop to Jersey or an 8 hour flight from the Caribbean, you can expect nothing but the best from our air traffic controllers. Expect plenty of land-after clearances and be hard on the brakes, as Gatwick's only runway is pushed to capacity. The event will take place from 1700-2000z every 1st, 2nd and 3rd Wednesday of each month, and it always proves to be a hit with pilots and ATC alike! We hope to see plenty of you joining us on the localiser.

  5. VATSIM UK is happy to welcome you back to another Midweek Madness! Join us on the last Wednesday of each month, for our Midweek Madness Feature Week! Due to popular demand, we’ll be taking you to Stansted for 3 hours of ATC on the 24th of June, at the usual times of 1700-2000z. Expect nothing from the best from our controllers - come and join us on the localiser! Make sure to vote on which airport you want to see next month using the poll on the VATSIM UK forums...
  6. VATSIM UK's ATC Training Team are inviting you to another Training Evening at the Essex Clutch - come and support our students training on Stansted Tower, Luton Tower, and Essex Radar between 1800 and 2000z on the 21st of May. A mix of IFR and VFR traffic would be handy to put the students through their paces, and please bear in mind that the students are still in training so some patience may be required at times. Enjoy!
  7. VATSIM UK Is proud to present our second 'FIS Afternoon" event. This event will give VFR pilots the "Freedom" to fly around the South of the UK with ATC. Like last time, we will post a diagram highlighting all of the booked aerodromes around the south of the UK, we currently have a large number of LARS and AFISO positions booked throughout the event. Members are welcome to book and log on to AFIS aerodromes etc. Farnborough Radar (LARS): I kindly ask that bookings on Farnborough radar do not exceed 1 hour, I know that there are a few people that take an interest in controlling it and it wouldn't be fair for one person to take it for the full event. We will be running a tower-view competition for this event, details to follow.
  8. VATSIM UK is happy to announce the Gibraltar Non-Precision Approach Evening! Join us for an evening of RNAV, visual, and SRA approaches at the British Overseas Territory of Gibraltar. Our controllers will be guiding you to point X-Ray, but from there you're very much on your own as you try to conquer the notoriously tricky winds and short runway. You can expect full ATC coverage at Gibraltar from 1500-1800z on the 30th of May - Sevilla and/or Madrid Radar will also be online courtesy of VATSPA. Controllers, please note that Gibraltar is a military field and as such requires a military endorsement in order to control. We hope you enjoy the change of scenery and remain open to any event ideas you have! "3 miles from touchdown, are you visual with the threshold?"
  9. South West based VA Severnair, in collaboration with VATSIM UK, are proud to present "South West Lockdown".On Saturday 9th May, ATC services at Bristol, Cardiff, Exeter, Newquay & Jersey will be provided by Severnair pilots who are also controllers (and some VATSIM UK guests), providing a seamless service to all flying to, from and over the South West of the UK. This event replaces the temporarily postponed South West Overload event which was planned for the weekend of 16th May. This event would’ve been run live from a venue in Weston-super-Mare, as has been the case in previous years; yet due to the current circumstances this has been postponed. Until we secure a new date (hopefully later this year), and to give a little boost to morale; it has been agreed that we will run this one-day event. For this event, all controlling at these airfields will be rostered and covered by those who were already partaking in the original event. We look forward to seeing you on the scopes!Frequently Asked QuestionsQ: Can I book a controlling slot to help?A: Feel free to open one of the other South West airfields during event hours (Gloucester, Guernsey, or any of the other smaller airfields). However, the airfields listed above will be fully controlled by the event participants only during event hours.Q: Can I control here outside of the event?A: These restrictions are only in place during the event's opening hours (1100z-2100z / 1200-2200 BST) for the airfields being manned - feel free to jump on elsewhere in the South West or on these airfields before or after these hours to either generate traffic for the start of the event, or "tidy up" the traffic that's still around when the team log off.Q: When will the slots be released?A: There are no slots for this event, just turn up and fly!Q: Who are Severnair? A: Severnair is a VA that has it's base in the South West of England. Severnair members have organised or been involved with the running of displays at the FSC Weston event in Weston-super-Mare, and more recently a private venue for over ten years, including the VATSIM controlling positions.
  10. VATSIM UK is proud to present Late Night Speed Dating at London Heathrow As some of you may be aware, Heathrow has recently been made single. We're looking to take full advantage of the situation, as on the 27th of April we'll push the UK's largest airport to half of her usual capacity; can you get it down on the TDZ and be quick on the brakes? You've not much time on the runway to impress - she's a demanding airport and there's plenty of competition! The event will will run from 2000-2300z, we hope to see plenty of you there. Make sure to bring plenty of holding fuel - you don't want to divert before you get the chance to make your approach...
  11. VATSIM UK is pleased to announce the return of a popular CityPair! Feeling Hungary ran for the first time last year between Heathrow and Budapest, we have linked with VACCHUN to bring it back for a second time. Join us on Saturday 2nd May from 1100z to 1600z for full ATC at Heathrow and Hungary, appropriate sectors have been contacted to provide en route ATC.
