This is nonsensical for both VATSIM and real life. Why do you use VATSIM, a network specifically created for ATC-pilot interaction, when you only want the pilot side? It's not that we don't want you here, we just don't understand the reasoning for using this network when other multiplayer setups / AI traffic usage would be far better for non-ATC simming. Keep in mind that disconnecting upon recieving a contact-me is more than likely making the ATC feel bad, especially if they are quite new to the network and excited to get traffic. Thanks for all the responses! I do agree that the contact me should be a little more friendly. Also it's not a bad thing to receive one. We are just letting you know to get on our frequency. Anyway thanks a lot for the responses. I loved reading them.

Hey everyone. This has been in the back of my head for a while, but as it has been happening more often I had to say it here. Has anyone noticed that about 40% of the time when you send a contact me the pilot will disconnect. That makes me confused because I wonder what goes through their heads when they see it. VATSIM is all about the ATC and a contact me isn't bad. The first time I saw this in effect was when I was on a minor ground position last year when I just got my S1. This was my 2nd or 3rd time on the network and I hop on and this guy just starts his taxi. I send a contact me. He disc

Alright so this is one that i've been thinking about for a while. I was flying into KPHX and coming straight in on RWY 8. The wind was [email protected], so I figured eh, I might as well go straight in. I was yelled at by so many pilots on unicom saying "UR NOT USING THE ACTIVE RUNWAYS SIR!!!!" There was no ATC on, therefore no active runway. Its just like an uncontrolled field. People need to know this. Im an Air Traffic Controller at ZLA (S2). I know what I'm talking about.
