Thanks this worked. To elaborate here is what I had to do. Close VATSpy Click on Start and type %APPDATA% which opens up the AppData directory in Windows Explorer. Then go inside Roaming\VAT-Spy (full path for me is C:\Users\simssmith\AppData\Roaming\VAT-Spy) where I located VATSpyConfig.xml . I renamed the file as BADVATSpyConfig.xml . Run VATSpy and file VATSpyConfig.xml recreated that no longer gives the ugly error.

I have same error . I am using VATSpy-Setup-1.1.0-beta.8 and have latest .Net runtime installed. You can bind mic PTT in X-Plane configuration and not do anything in xPilot client. There are few advantages. The client won't fight for focus and bind key won't causing accidental chat typing in the client.
