  1. Hi, Anthony. You might not realize how inexpensive Microsoft Flight Simulator is. If you really want to join the fun on VATSIM and the $7-10.00 is too much on your budget ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B000096L71/ref=sr_1_1_olp?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1298076361&sr=1-1&condition=used ), PM me your mailing address. I'll drop ship a prepaid package to you. -- L. James -- L. D. James [email protected] http://www.apollo3.com/~ljames
  2. It had stopped working for me for a few while. I don’t know how long, but I check a few days apart. All my stored links stopped working. I also did Google searches and the linked in Google didn’t work either for a while. My stored links were in the form of: http://www.vatsim-uk.org/community/index.php?showtopic=15445 (which still doesn’t work). I had tried many times http://www.vatsim-uk.org . Eventually with Google I found a http://vatsim-uk.ro.uk (which worked) So if you have linked, some of them might not work. But currently typing in http://www.vatsim-uk.org will be

  4. I might be wrong and would appreciate being updated if I am, but I believe the Official FSUIPC support forum is: http://forum.simflight.com/forum/30-fsuipc-support-pete-dowson-modules/ -- L. James -- L. D. James [email protected] http://www.apollo3.com/~ljames
  5. Hi, Jonathan. In conjunction with the tips from the other users, I strongly encourage you to visit the Please Read sticky of the FSInn Help forum. It has two messages that will [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ist you with this issue (as provided by the other to users) plus other issues that you might not have gotten to yet. You'll also see important tips on optimizing your online performance while on VATSIM. -- L. James -- L. D. James [email protected] http://www.apollo3.com/~ljames
  6. Follow the this guide and let us know where you're getting stuck: VATSIM QuickStart Guide: http://www.vatsim.net/pilots/quickstart -- L. James -- L. D. James [email protected] http://www.apollo3.com/~ljames
  7. I have reformatted numerous times. Some of the times the hardware has been different. I have never had to call yet. I believe as long as the process recognizes the machine as being significantly similar it will automatically be validated. I don't think you'll have any problems at all reactivating on the same computer after reformatting. -- L. James -- L. D. James [email protected] http://www.apollo3.com/~ljames
  8. Why don't you and your group sample the VATSIM experience. Take a look at the VATSIM Quickstart Page: http://www.vatsim.net/pilots/quickstart Edit: By the way, the only thing FSX's multiplayer mode is used for on VATSIM is for the users to share the cockpit... fly on the same plane ( http://mbev.net/wikka/ConnectingAsCopilot ). Other than that, as you can see from testing the four steps of the quick start guide, the VATSIM experience is Air Traffic Control. If some of your group are interested in controlling, click on the ATC link for controllers on the front page of http://www.vat
  9. The only issue I experience is the UIAutomationCore.dll issue. It's resolved by placing a Vista version in the FSX root folder. I wouldn't recommend tampering with the installed one. It could cause issues with other applications that use it. But having a Vista UIAutimationCore.dll file in the FSX root directory will resolve FSX's compatibility issue, whereas it searches first the install directory before grabbing the systemwide version. You can get the working Vista version for the download section of http://flightsim.apollo3.com . As far as anything else, as others have mentioned,
  10. Hi, James. This is a matter of configuring the pilot client. You have this question already opened in the pilot client support area (FSInn Help). You can find the threads you've started by clicking on the link above that says "View your posts". The resolution is provided there. Let us know if you have any problems with the provided steps. -- L. James -- L. D. James [email protected] www.apollo3.com/~ljames
  11. Hi, John. You appear to have an excellent system. I get a little over 100FPS on my system with all the sliders maxed to the right. My system's specs are lower performance than yours. What is your specific question? -- L. James -- L. D. James [email protected] www.apollo3.com/~ljames
  12. It's a lot more than what I had for years. It ran FSX quite well. If you have problems with FSX, I'd be glad to help. But I can't imagine you having problems with those specs. I'd definitely go with FSX if I were you. It's been years since I've worked with a brand new Laptop. So, again none of the older Laptops had anywhere near the specs of yours and they all ran FSX without any problems. I might purchase a new Laptop today if Walmart doesn't run out of them by the time I make it to the store on Black Friday. I won't fight the crowd, but I'll visit later to see what they have le
  13. You are likely to see more controllers in depending on where you part. There are a lot of factors including the fact that most controllers have day jobs. The page I gave you is four quick steps. If you would test it I'm sure you'd be surprised at the big understanding curb you'd gain. Again, the immediate specific answer to your question, yes. You're more likely to see more controllers at a major popular airport than one in a rural area. If you took the time to look at and test the VATSIM quick start guide it'd probably answer questions that would take you a very long time to be ab
  14. You might also take a look at the VATSIM Quickstart Guide. It has links to the prc given to you by Ernesto, plus directly answer your immediate question.
