First of all, you can't compare FS9 to X-Plane. FS9 is a game....even microsoft considers it a game. X-Plane is a simulator. That means that comparing the two is like comparing apples and oranges. Games are usually very easy to control. You have a set amount of keys for a set amount of functions and you have some goal or criteria to meet at the end. Simulators are designed to recreate reality and any strange combination of things that are possible. Because of that, they're extremely complex. Let me state some facts: 1) FS9 currently has airport scenery and X-Plane does not (that will c -

how? Curious, Tom http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?autocom=dlmanager&do=viewfile&fid=5605 It does a great job but there are some major issues (no runway lights)....however when XPlane 8.50 is released, these issues can be quickly resolved. XPlane 8.50 is quickly approaching beta too so it won't be much longer now. -
transponder code changing?
Christopher Serio 823884 replied to Jeff Clark's topic in The SweatBox - ATC Training
If you have someoen filed IFR that departs on a 1200 squawk, i think the server changes it to 2000 for you. When you set a discrete code it should use that instead. -

Tomas, Very good catch but unfortunately, that's a different problem than the one the others seem to be having. I was looking at the code and my calculations for magnetic variation are incorrect which is why the headings are off for them. I need to read the variation from the sector file instead of trying to calculate it myself to solve the problem. -
This is a known issue with the voice code and Norton...we're looking into it though it's a fairly recent problem and I'm quite baffled as to what could be causing it.

Nice job to Ross for making a great alternative ATC client for VATSIM users. I'm sure it'll become quite popular.

ACSim: The Future
Christopher Serio 823884 replied to Gareth Williams 840232's topic in The SweatBox - ATC Training
Marek, You are correct that it will probably be a few months before TWRTrainer is release. You are incorrect in believing that making the aircraft taxi properly would be a simple task. That's why Ross developed a whole new program instead of just patching the ACSim.
