When a server is selected, it fills it in by name. If you're already entering the server by name, I suspect you're experiencing a temporary DNS failure, either by your ISP or one of the upstream providers. That will likely resolve itself. In the meantime, you can go to any site on the Internet that looks up IP addresses and look up one of the VATSIM names. Put the server IP address in the server field and that should get you connecting. Do remember to switch back to the name later, so a change of IP address won't affect your connectivity.
