To combat a growing number of posts regarding the above topic, here is a quick answer:

1) Visit the Virtual Airlines section of vatsim.net - http://www.vatsim.net/pilots/v-airlines/

2) Click on VA/SOA Partners - http://www.vatsim.net/pilots/v-airlines/va-vasoapartners/

3) Click on View our Partners - http://vasops.vatsim.net/

There you have it, a list of VA's approved by VATSIM!

If you have any queries about VA's (that you think will not cause VA CEO's to just promote their own VA) then please post in this topic

VA's have been categorised into various sections, most predominantly being the regions that they are based in. So for example, if you want a European VA, look in the Europe section. You can also search for keywords, such as realistic or training, or even demographics like British/Australian. A few VA's belong to more than one category.

There are also VA's that accept pilots with no experience, VA's that are just starting up, VA's with operations in certain areas such as general aviation (GA) and cargo, VA's that hold Authorised Training Organisation status with the VATSIM network etc...

Finally, there are the VSOA's that run special operations, mainly in the military field. For example, the Virtual Royal Air Force.

NOTE: Please do not create topics in the forum asking for people to suggest a virtual airline. It does not work and just leads to m[Mod - Happy Thoughts] promotion of various VA's.

Other Information

To help you search for a virtual airline, keep an eye on the VA News Forum - http://forums.vatsim.net/viewforum.php?f=25

VA's post their latest news here, often with recruitment notices and information on new operations etc...

When searching for your virtual airline, check out their websites. Read through the information they provide for new pilots. Keep a list of those that particularly impress you or had operations and systems that caught your eye. Once you've exhausted the list, then go through and cross off those you don't want. You'll be left with a few to choose from; much easier than the original 300+ VA's in partnership with VATSIM!

Remember you can join more than one VA at a time (unless the VA has a specific rule saying you can't). Also remember you can leave a VA so it's not a matter of picking the perfect one first off.

I don't think anyone can answer your question. You should really ask - "what VA is best for me?"

Cheers!

Every VA brings with them something different to the table, the only way to really know which one will be the best for you, the level of realism you fly, and your schedule is to look at their websites(and forums if their public) and get to know them. then make a list and make an informed decision as to who YOU want to fly for. I would also join a few and take em for a test drive and see if the book truly matches the cover, Nothing says you're required to stay with a VA once you sign up.

I think its crazy how some VA's have such crazy minimums. I can't remember which one it was, but one of them wanted 250+ hours flying sims, then another couple hundred flying jets etc etc. Give me a break. I just spent a lifetime busting my butt to meet REAL WORLD minimums and requirements to fly for a living and now you expect me to do that for a SIM!?

Well James, you know which VA's to miss now. Have a look through the VATSIM approved list. Only a few demand ridiculous prerequisites.

Tony is right.

There is a huge selection of Virtual Airlines on the VATSIM approved list. Your best bet is to try out a few that interest you and eventually you will narrow it down to on.

Please make sure your VA supports the software that you're using.

Don't make the same mistake I made when I chose the wrong [NAMELESS] VA and invested quite a lot of effort just to find out I could not fly a Check Ride with my software.

I think I just made a mistake, too.

Its always best to fully check out a VA to see if it will suite you before signing up. There is a wide choice so be choosy

Hey Captains,

I noticed this was a dormant thread so I thought I would post up on it. I have been flying with a VA for a couple months now and have found it to be an amazing VA. They are on top of things, and always available if you need help. It's based in the US, but has hubs around the world as it is tied to one of the world's largest operators. Delta. If you so choose to look us up you can find us at https://flydeltavirtual.com/. If you have any questions feel free to message me.
