Here's some screenies to whet your pallet. These are just random shots...I'll post some more impressive ones soon or maybe Ben will contribute some as well. Bottom line is, the new scenery kicks @$$ and the terrain resolution is incredible.

Hi Y'all,

Just a few notes:

- These are mostly pre-release shots...so there may be a few artifacts in there that hopefully aren't in the final ones. For actual production shots see http://www.xsquawkbox.net/scenery/gallery.php

- These were taken on a 1.8 ghz dual G5 with a Radeon 9600XT 256 MB and 1.25 GB of RAM. That's a pretty beefy system for a Mac, but not a true monster. In a lot of cases the framerate is low because I've overextended my settings to get a good screenshot. In the gallery link above are some shots both at very high and lower settings; we've designed the new scenery to work on a range of machines.

Anyway, the new scenery should be out soon, and the X-Plane demo is free.

*Cheers*

Ben

Hey Christopher,

Could you get me some screen shots of the South Lake Tahoe area?

I need some proof for the Home Owners [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ociation that I indeed mow my lawn!

Cheers!

I've seen this scenery up&running at the MIFSS (Milan Flight Sim Show), thanks to the friends of X-Plane Italia www.x-plane.it ....

... and i have to say it's simply amazing.

The highest detail i've ever seen, very very outstanding.

Also new programs, new plugins, new airplanes and new sceneries are being developed for X-Plane, i think i'll have to buy it.

XTower also rocks

Red over white, you're all right.

Luca is right, at the X-Plane Italia stand at MIFSS we've had a lot of interest and great feedback to the Global Scenery (and XP in general - we were demostrating also new amazing planes such as the P180). A lot of people was surprised realizing that GS are "default scenery"... "What, no add-on? Default??". And we were not even showing it at extreme res.

XP future looks brighter and brighter...

I just received it!

Default install, which includes the US scenery is 9.9gb.

Haven't installed any other scenery yet, but the US scenery is great!

Time for more flying.

Bill
