Welcome to the first annual Toronto Pearson International Real Ops event. In the past, other regions in VATSIM have created Real Ops events, but for the first time ever your friends here at the Toronto Flight Information Region are going to do something never done before. We are going to go BIGGER then every before, and we are going to do the UNTHINKABLE, we are going to run Toronto REAL OPS for 24 HOURS!

That's right, on Saturday, 24th September starting at 1000z that's 6:00am Eastern Standard Time; Toronto FIR is going to run its first annual 24 hours REAL OPS event. We are giving you the ultimate choice of 1200 real world flights to book from. That's 607 Departures and 593 Arrivals, from over 26 airlines and cargo carriers to take you to or from almost any Domestic or International airports in the World.

If that was not enough for you, our friends at PMDG, Aerosoft, Orbx, HiFi Technologies, Carenado, LiveATC and FS2CREW have taken this event to another level. They have all generously donated copies of their products for prizes to be won. For the complete list of prizes, please navigate to our Prize Page.

How does it work? Pilots are to book any of the flights listed on the Booking page that they are interested in flying. Which then will enroll them into the prize pool. Pilots may book as many flights as they wish, as long as the flight times do not conflict.

Can I use my Virtual Airline Callsign? Yes, all the scheduled flights we are giving the option to let you use your Virtual Airline Callsign in replace for the Callsign shown on the Bookings page. Simply select the flight(s) that you are interested in, and then please email us at ([email protected]), and inform us of your intend Callsign(s) for the flight(s) you have booked during the event.

For a complete list of participating Virtual Airlines, please navigate to our Virtual Airlines Page.

HOW TO WIN A PRIZE!

To start we have two prize pools running for the entire duration of the 24 hours.

First prize pool: This pool is for everyone who has booked a flight and has flown their booked flight within the allotted 24 hour time period. Every flight you complete earns you one ballot into the prize pool. The more flights you book and complete, the more ballots get entered to win!

More flights mean more chances to win!

Second prize pool: This pool is for everyone who makes their arrival or departure time within plus or minus 10 minutes of their scheduled time at Toronto (CYYZ). Every flight that you complete on-time earns you one ballot into this draw.

NOTE: The completion of one flight is eligible for both prize pools, therefore increasing your chances of winning a prize. One flight that is on-time, will earn you a ballot in both draws.

Dear Members of VATSIM,

Please accept my compliments for the supportive role you played when our Toronto FIR held the inaugural Toronto/Pearson International Real Ops “24 Hours of Service”. We have had high-levels of traffic in the past before, but it is a rarity when we are able to substain a full house of controllers for over 17 hours, which in total handled an astonishing 562 flights.

You allowed use to demonstrate the high-level of experience we hold here in Toronto while still expressing your thanks and gratitude along the way. With out your support and willingness to participate among the 460 bookings hundreds of pilots made, we would not have been able to present an event we hope will continue to be among the most anticipated events every year. With that, we at the Toronto FIR thank you!

To our neighbouring ARTCC/FIR your willingness to participate as a co-equal made this event top-down a success and raised it to another level. Thank you for the tremendous amount of hours spent online beside us.

In our minds every member that participated is a winner, however, as we all know there can only be fifteen winners. Without further ado, the grand prize winners of Toronto’s first annul Real Ops are: Victor Sussman, David Mulder, Pietro Montanarella, Leo B. Malagar, Michel Montreuil, Greg Keath, Andrew Yao, Tim Murphy, Gilles-Gabriel Gouffran, Francis Tremblay, Randy Coles, Per-Kristian Jensen, Matthew Lockhart, Kwaku Opoku, and Joe Cote. Congratulations to each an every one of you! http://www.czyz.ca/prizes

Lastly, to the nineteen Virtual Airlines that supported us, you demonstrated the leadership style that others rarely see. Your willingness to participate has been nothing but incredible. http://www.czyz.ca/realops/va

Thank you everyone for giving your time. It has payed off in a big way.

Sincerely,

Edited by Guest
