VATspy Update 2014 - Suggestion Thread

Hello all,

It's been a long, long, long time.

I'm doing another suggestion thread to see what controllers and pilots are looking for in terms of updates to be included in the newest update. I last did one in 2011-2012, and there was a smaller, minor update going around the forums for a limited time.

I'm going to be handcuffed with real world stuff but I'm hoping to crank something out by August at the latest.

Among changes so far, I'm working with VATSIM Brazil to update some airports and work out the new boundaries in their FIRs to release on a much wider scale. I'm waiting on just fine-tuning them, but for the most part, that part of the project is already done. These boundaries will be the most current, as of Spring/Summer 2014.

Anyway, include any ICAOs or FIRs you want updated/changed/added and if applicable post or e-mail me any coordinates for boundaries at dmm200(at)aol.com. We're hoping to release this one as version 1.3.

Happy simming!

Hello again,

Here's what's been done so far:

-Included the VATSPY v1.22 update done by Emiliano Ferraco (removed the LON_CTR dividers, however, as they were a bit messy. VATUK has a link to who you should call on their website, anyhow)

-Updated Brazilian FIRs (SBAZ, SBBS, SBCW, SBRE, SBAO) to the correct 2014 boundaries

-Added the following Brazilian aerodromes and/or TMA designations:

SBAE|Bauru-Arealva|-22.15778|-49.06833||SBCW|0

SBCN|Caldas Novas|-17.7267|-48.61135||SBBS|0

SBDB|Bonito|-21.22944|-56.45611||SBCW|0

SBDO|Dourados|-22.20056|-54.92556||SBCW|0

SBJD|Jundiai|-23.18167|-46.94361||SBBS|0

SBJI|Ji-Parana Airport|-10.87056|-61.84667||SBAZ|0

SBTV|Terravista|-16.54083|-39.10778||SBRE|0

SBUY|Coari|-4.886111|-65.349333||SBAZ|0

SBWA|Amazonica|-4.250556|-69.937778||SBAZ|0

SBWH|Belo Horizonte|-19.624444|-43.971944||SBBS|0

SBWJ|Rio de Janeiro|-22.81|-43.250556||SBCW|0

SBXL|Paso de Los Libres|-29.781944|-57.038333||SBCW|0

SBZM|Juiz de Fora|-21.51306|-43.17306||SBCW|0

SJRG|Rio Grande|-32.08167|-52.16333||SBCW|0

SWPI|Parintins|-2.66935|-56.77114||SBAZ|0

SBXP|Sao Paulo|-23.625833|-46.656111||SBCW|0

-Cleaned up South American FIR boundaries a tad

-Updated Jeddah and Bahrain FIR boundaries per ICAO changes (2014)

-Closed Old Quito International (SEQU)

-Added new Doha Hamad Intenational (OTHH) which fully took over from OTBD on 5/27/14

Pending Changes:

-New York Airspace

Hey David,

If you're able to, could you also update the Saudi Arabia and Bahrain borders? They've been changed this year with new sector lines drawn. I've outlined the change in this forum topic: http://forums.vatsim.net/viewtopic.php?f=104&t=64390

If you need to work with the sector files, they can be found on this link: http://vatme.net/sector-files/

Thanks!

Add a column showing the aircraft type on the All Flights and Pilots pages. No value at all other than for interest. I [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ume this is easy to add as it is already available on the map when hovering over an aircraft.

Also, estimated time of arrival (and time left) based on current speed.

I wish I could but modifying the software itself is entirely up to Ross. I just update FIRs and airports every so often.

Hi!

Not sure if an update is in the works, but when one is I'd appreciate the Reykjavik CTA getting an update. Since I am not 100% sure how the layout is coded at the moment, I will try to explain the main positions:

  • BICC_FSS - covers both BIRD FIR and BGGL FIR with oceanic clearances, but only provides ATC in the north sector of the CTA. I would recommend showing it as covering the whole CTA just to make sure pilots contact BICC for oceanic clearance.
  • BIRD_CTR - covers south, east and west sectors of the CTA with radar coverage (between Europe and North America), top down in Iceland and Faroe Islands
  • BGGL_FSS - covers BGGL FIR below FL195 and top down all Greenland airports

Full information is available here: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=66507

A nice map is located here (page 27, sectors shown in green boundaries): http://ww2.caa.is/media/PDF/AIRAC_AMDT_001_2015_08_JAN_2015.pdf

Thanks!

I'm not a programming expert, but I will try to help

I think the error log is saying that the program can't find or understand any of the data. Maybe try reinstalling the data?

...and now I will leave this thread in more capable hands! Ross?

Would still rather get this to work as it seems a bit more up to date.

The two .dat files in the Dropbox account linked in the text you quoted opened just fine for me in VAT-Spy version 1.0.3719.41261.

Have you tried uninstalling VAT-Spy, ensuring all files in "%appdata%\VAT-Spy" are gone, re-installing VAT-Spy, then overwriting the two .dat files with those provided in the Dropbox account?

EDIT: You (and/or a moderator) might consider starting a new thread if you want to troubleshoot your issue further so as not to clutter this 'suggestion' thread.

Hello

We are now updating the Norwegian airspace alot. New callsigns and new borders.

Take a look at the sectorisation map i've made.

http://www.mej.no/u/uploads/north-norway.jpg

http://www.mej.no/u/uploads/south-norway.jpg

The new sectors will be:

NOR_N_CTR (126.450)

NOR_C_CTR (125.700)

NOR_E_CTR (118.820)

NOR_W_CTR (120.650)

NOR_CTR (125.500) will cover all 4 sectors.

NOR_N_CTR (126.450) will cover North and Central.

NOR_S_CTR (121.550) will cover C,E and W.

NOR_1_CTR (118.820) and NOR_3_CTR (125.050) will cover the East sector if we have a split.

NOR_9_CTR (120.650) and NOR_14_CTR (124.570) will cover the West sector if we have a split.

NOR_18_CTR (125.700) and NOR_19_CTR (131.100) will cover the Central sector if we have a split.

NOR_N1_CTR (118.550), NOR_N2_CTR (126.450) and NOR_N3_CTR (126.700) will cover the North sector if we have a split.

Is this possible to get this out as an update on VATSPY?

Yours Sincerely

First, thanks to Daniel for pointing out this thread.

And, if/when there is going to be next update, there are some minor changes (no major airports involved) in EVRR:

These lines should be removed:

EVJA|Kuldiga|56.941619|21.990931||EVRR|0

EVTJ|Tukums|56.938833|23.221||EVRR|0

And this line added:

EVJA|Tukums-Jurmala|56.938833|23.221||EVRR|0

Hi all,

The next update I'll be doing will probably be in early May 2015, if I do one. Real world stuff has got me in a tad bit of a bind right now and I'm on a short vacation from university for the time being. I see there is still a ton of interest and around the spring time (where I am in the Northern Hemisphere at least) is when I can get around to most of this. Feel free to keep posting to this thread and I'll hopefully take care of all of these updates in a few short months.

Happy flying!
