Can I use the VATSIM network as a Cessna 172 pilot as I am at the very beginning and not ready to fly commercial jets yet.

Absolutely! As a matter of fact, you are highly encouraged, at least when being provided Air Traffic Control services, to use an aircraft you are comfortable, competent and proficient in. My personal rule of thumb is to gain basic competence in an aircraft offline (or not under ATC), and build proficiency (or fly aircraft that I am already proficient in) under ATC. There are no hard restrictions, but when under ATC, it makes the experience so much better to follow that general guideline.

Thank you for asking!
