Autocontact for text aircraft

Hello all

In earlier days, when I did a handoff for a text pilot to the next station, the relevant message was written (prepared) immediately in the frequency chat and even the station and frequency was correctly set according the handoff I initiated. In the meantime, there have been changes in both sectorfile and ES (3.1 to 3.2(r2)), so I don't know where this functionality has gone. But now, the option "Auto messages for TEXT aircraft" from the general settings page doesn't work for the .autocontact command, but for all others, it does.

Did you experience the same? Or is there probably an error in my sectorfile?

Regards Jonas

I'm aware of that. But it isn't working.

As I understood, there is already a predefined phrase which can be overwritten by an individual one in the alias file. But there is no text showing up on handoff. With other commands like levels or headings, it works as expected.

I'm sorry Gergely, but your answer doesn't actually answer my question. Any other ideas for a solution. Do other controllers have the same issue or does the .autocontact work for you?

Just to be precise: the command itself work if I enter it in the command window. But isn't written automatically if I do a handoff for a text pilot.

How do you hand off? It works when you hand off by menu. But not wired to F4 (.QX) command.

Hi Jonas,

Although it's not really specifically providing a solution to your exact problem, I know that the way I do it works...

  1. In my alias, I have this command:
    .autocontact Contact $1 $2. Goodbye!

  2. "Auto messages for TEXT aircraft" is ticked in General Settings.
  3. I initiate a handoff via the handoff menu on a tag.

Now, I can't remember the exact EuroScope philosophy for this, but I'm only ever handing to positions that are identified in the UK ese. ie. they have an identifier next to them - example:

LON_CTR:London Control:123.900:L:9:LON:CTR:-:-:0301:0377:N051.32.26.870:W002.43.29.830::

LON_SC_CTR:London Control:132.600:LSC:8:LON:CTR:-:-:0301:0377:N051.28.58.203:E000.02.20.411::

That might not make a difference, but I know that if you handoff to a position that is 'unidentified' and has a number before it, then it definitely won't give the name of the controller. Whether it at least gives the frequency is something I haven't tried....

Just some other bug fixing things (I'm not trying to make out you haven't tried the obvious, but if the issue is one of these things, then it'd be a shame to miss it!):

  • Make sure there is only one .autocontact command in the alias.
  • Make sure autocontact is all one word and that there is no space in between.
  • Make sure you have given EuroScope some $ variables to fill in.
  • Make sure the alias is actually loaded when you start up the profile.

Hopefully something is useful there!

That mainly explains the problem. But the text was also available in earlier version when pressing F4, wasn't it? Any chance to have that functionality again? Because I like to work with the keyboard, it's much quicker than the mouse.

I think that it should work with F4 as well. So I register it to be fixed.
