Any type code not found on that list (such as the C172 and other GA aircraft) will be identified and used for model matching even if there is no airline code found in the atc_parking_codes value in the aircraft.cfg file. Today, I installed 2.0.8 and could verify that it now automatically detects changes to installed aircraft.cfg files. Perfect!
