VRC under Linux

Hi, Ross, hi everyone,

first of all, Ross, that's great stuff you delivered. I used VRC twice, and I love it.

However, my favorite OS is Linux, so I wnated to use VRC under this OS, using Wine. The installation was without any problem, but if I start VRC, giving the installation directory as working path, it tells me to be unable to find the .ini-file.

I think it's a problem that occours 'cause Linux handles file names case sensitive. VRC.ini is totally different to vrc.ini.

Could you give me a hint, how the .ini-file is requested in your code, so i can rename it this way?

Thank you in advance.

Hi, other Linux lover, Joerg !

Try a "LINK", the link having the name Linux wants,

and aiming to the INI win$loz uses. . .

Hi, Jean,

I surely did so, if I only knew what name spelling was correct...

It's VRC.ini

I'd be pretty shocked if VRC was usable under WINE, especially voice. Let me know how it goes, though.

Note that FSRC is in the works (by Fred Clausen), and it's cross-platform. Linux/Mac/Windows.

Ross, you can keep calm. It doesn't work.

I don't know about voice, 'cause VRC doesn't find VRC.ini. Could it be, that the voice problem depends on how you adress the soundcard?

Regards

Joerg

VRC works much better than ASRC in Virtual PC for Mac. I can almost use voice, although not quite. The interface is much more reliable and the lags I've experienced with ASRC are gone with VRC. -b
