then it wouldnt fit their users availability

I wouldnt expect an event happening in Japan to change their event times to suit my availability on the east coast US. just one of those things out of our control

Every week or so I go through the list of events in the forums/calendars of areas I'm interested in.

This will sometimes end up with me adjusting my sleeping schedule - for instance there's a Maderia Event at 1400z to 2000z this Saturday. This is 1am till 7am on Sunday in my local time zone (but 3pm to 9pm on Saturday in Portugal). If I want to show up to this event, I might go to bed at 5pm on Saturday so I can get up at 1am - fly the event (around 2.5 hours) then go back to bed.

Events are mostly based around ATC availability. Most ATC tends to be local (ATC visitation rights require people to go through a process, not just decide to show up on the day), so having events at local 9am on Monday, or 3am any day (remember the events staff generally live in the country where the event is hosted) - then ... not really going to happen.

So the likelyhood of any event occuring in a particular timezone/frame relates to the location of the event itself.

For Australians, keep the following in mind.

Australian/NZ Events: 4pm - 11pm (17:00z - 12:00z)

Asian Events: 9pm - 3am (10:00z - 16:00z)

Middle East events - 1am - 6am (14:00z - 19:00z)

Europe events - 3am - 8am (16:00z - 21:00z)

South/North American events - 8am - 4pm (21:00z - 05:00z)

This is fairly generic, but a reasonable ballpark figure.

Sometimes during weekends, areas will host longer events in their local 8am - 11pm timeframes instead of 4pm - 11pm local. The "live" events - where ATC comes together in a LAN during local daylight (morning) hours - which can push timeframes like "Europe = 7pm"

Australian Eastern Daylight Savings time (Current Melbourne - Sydney time) is UTC +11

take a time of 0400z that's 3pm. 2100z is 8am.

This relationship changes when we return to Standard time.

What I usually do is look at the events forums at the locations I'm interested in, and set reminders in my own google calendar.

Also keep an eye out for that rare event when local ATC controls out of their normal peak period. Happened earlier this year with VATUSA and VATSIM Scandinavia.
