Voting for Cross the Pond Westbound 2017 airfields are now open.

Votes can be made by logging into the CTP website (ctp.vatsim.net) and clicking on 'Airfield Voting'. You are only allowed to select one departure field and one arrival field, so choose wisely!

Voting closes on February 27 at 2359z.

We look forward to another successful event and your participation.

Regards,

Cross the Pond Planning Team

With the best of respect to my division, I'm just glad not to see any London airports

I would love to see a CTP where there a more smaller airports being used, but still major just to spread things out. For example using airports like Gatwick, Orly, Barcelona etc. Effectively the second largest airports in each country just to mix things up and give more variation.

Gatwick was westbound 2016. I mostly remember that because I had a slot for Gatwick - Dulles.

I think it would be awesome if Gander was one of the arrivals for Westbound. Not everyone likes eight hours gate to gate, but would get to enjoy CTP with a shorter hop from say, Keflavik to Gander...and then beyond if they chose. Once upon a time I made the trip as a ride-along several times both ways. Westbound we always stopped at Gander for fuel because of the prevailing winds at altitude.

Once we were parked next to a Soviet jetliner...yep it was that long ago...and they refused to let us debark for fear we would mingle with "Soviets" in the pax lounge and divulge the secret to Nieman and Marcus' Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe...or perhaps some other secret, but I always liked the cookie recipe story.

nothing stopping anyone from flying to/from alternative fields during CTP thats pretty much what I do whenever i fly in CTP just to avoid the delays you would definitely find at the featured fields. I crossed once in the A2A 172 during CTP from Canada to Greenland on my around the world tour with it. i was well above the coverage for the NATS, but i still got enroute from Gander and greenland controllers

side note, i would like to see a CTP where an ARTCC/FIR/vACC is the featured destination, not just an airport. might give folks more options, then again, some areas are very large airspaces with many airports (US ARTCC's especially, can drop a dime from the air in Florida and itll probably land at an airport lol), or feature several fields within those areas. that ofcourse means staffing issues so might not be workable for all areas.

Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but when will the results (i.e. official CTP airports) be announced?
