The Gander Oceanic FIR (CZQO) is seeking a dynamic team-player to fulfill the role of Oceanic Director. The incomebent should have several years ATC experience, with a minimum rating of C1. Experience as an oceanic controller (FSS) is required. Please note that excellent written and oral communication skills are required for this position. Additionally the incomebent must be member of the VATSIM Network in good standing without any major disciplinary actions on their VATSIM CERT record.

 

Responsibilities

- Reports to the VATCAN1 and works with other members of the VATCAN Management Team.

- Functions as an FIR Director, attending periodic meetings to report on events and activities, and to stay abreast of FIR issues and policies.

- Welcome new oceanic controllers and provide an initial briefing.

- Maintains the oceanic roster and ensures controllers remain certified, consistent with FIR SOPs and policies.

- Manages the oceanic training program and manages incoming training requests.

- Responsible for event requests and represents the FIR on the annual Cross The Pond events.

- Other tasks as requested by VATCAN1.

 

You are not required to transfer from your home FIR/ARTCC/vACC to hold this position.

 

Minimum Requirements - the successful applicant will meet the following minimum standards.

- A familiarity with oceanic ATC operations and regulations.

- A familiarity with pilot operations in oceanic airspace.

- Minimum of C1 rating, and be in good standing within the VATSIM Network.

- The ability to communicate clearly and professionally through various mediums to people of different experience levels and cultures.

- Fluent in the English language.
