The Mid Summer Madness team and VATSIM UK are delighted to announce the latest rendition of VATSIM UK's longest running event.

On Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th of August 2018, Birmingham Airport (EGBB) will host its 12th Annual Mid Summer Madness (MSM) Event. Birmingham Airport will be fully staffed from 1000-1900Z (1100-2000 BST) on both days.

There are no flight bookings, so just turn up and fly to and/or from EGBB in whatever you like, whenever you like and as many times as you like! Please help us celebrate the 12th anniversary of this fantastic event by flying in and out of Birmingham - the skies are guaranteed to be busy around EGBB on the 4th and 5th of August!

Prizes

This year we've again teamed up with A2A Simulations, UK2000 Scenery, Flight1 Software and Majestic Software. Thanks to the generosity of these companies, we're able to offer the following prizes to pilots who fly in or out of Birmingham during the event weekend:

A2A Simulations - a product of your choice from their store

UK2000 Scenery – a product of your choice from their store

Flight1 Software - a product of your choice from their store

Majestic Software – Majestic Dash 8 Q400 PRO version

All you have to do to be in with a chance of winning one of these amazing prizes is have "MSMXII" written in your flight plan remarks and fly one whole flight into or out of EGBB during the event timings whilst connected to the VATSIM network.

For those planning on participating, please make sure you have addon scenery installed for EGBB to maximise your simming experience! Freeware scenery available at flightsim.com and demo/payware scenery is available from uk2000scenery.com - default scenery is inaccurate and doesn't have the runway extension.

You'll also want an up-to-date AIRAC cycle installed, currently cycle 1808, as COWLY, CPT and DTY SIDs from RW33 are no longer in use.

Morning!

We kick off with VATSIM-UK's longest running event at 1000z tomorrow morning.

Last year we had an impressive 335 movements at EGBB during event timings.

Can you help us beat that this year?

Thanks,

S..

Thank you all who joined in and made the event such a success, either attending in person or from your own home.

I have downloaded the data from all flights and put them through my random number generator, and will be making contact with the prize winners. Winners will be announced on here shortly (for those that want to be, of course). Congratulations to those who won a prize.

Thanks to the fantastic companies for donating these prizes for us.

See you all again next year!

Morning!

Just wanted to post to say thanks to all pilots and controllers who took part, and take part year after year, who make this event so successful.  It certainly wouldn't be possible without you.   Thanks also to Henry for his successful maiden voyage at the helm and also thanks again to our sponsors whose quality products certainly help attract the pilots.

Just in case you didn't see it on the twitter feed, EGBB saw a mammoth 158 movements during event timings on the Saturday; and an unbelievable 174 during the same event timings on the Sunday - this was MSM's busiest ever single day!  EGBB saw somewhere in the region of 365 movements throughout the whole weekend.  I'd say that is quite impressive.

Cheers,

S
