Help me with a question about flight planning and cruise altitudes between Hong Kong and Singapore.

Based on the following flight plan: PECAN V12 EPDOS L642 CN L644 MABLI N892 MABAL, controllers have told me that FL360 and FL390 are available for that westbound magnetic course. Am I correct in [Mod - Happy Thoughts]uming that FL370 and FL380 are [Mod - Happy Thoughts]igned to eastbound flights?

Hi Ken,

Due to procedural control in the South China Sea, airways such as L642 and N892 (as mentioned in your route) are restricted to specific flight levels. These airways are uni-directional and are only allowed to be allocated FL310, 320, 350, 360, 390, 400. FL370/FL380 are used on other airways that intersect the airways in the procedural controlled airspace.

Should you wish to find the appropriate flight levels while crossing VATSEA's airspace, do check them out in the ASEA Coverage & FLAS docomeent that can be found on the VATSEA website under the docomeents section.

Hope this helped answer your question.
