you need to make sure that your audio control panel is correctly set. Com1 volume knob turned up and microphone selected

I have the same problem, I am logged on to the Vatsim site, I can see the other planes logged on, I can toggle the list of controllers who are active, my mic is set up, no one can hear me and I can't hear anyone. I can see text messages sent by other participants, everything seems normal but no voice. Here is a screenshot of the path of my set-up, please, someone show me the way, I am obviously doing something wrong. used to fly on the old Vatsim with no problems./Users/michaeleamer/Desktop/Screen Shot 2019-10-14 at 9.32.18 PM.png

In case you can't open the .png file attached, here is the set-up path it shows: x-plane11>resources>plugins>XSquawkbox>Resources>airlines.txt, CSL, csl_legacy.csv, Doc8643.txt, lights.png, liveries.txt, related.txt, XSquawkBox Prefs

I suspect I did not install csl_legacy.csv properly, please give me detailed instructions on how to fix this.

Thanks!

Are you running the Audio for VATSIM Standalone Client? I don't see you reference that anywhere.

This message is for Matthew Bartels 863645 who answered my earlier message asking if I'm running the Audio for VATSIM Standalone Client. My answer is I don't think so but I'm not sure. What I need is a step by step guide on how to install this new VATSIM. You guys are experts and use terminology I am not familiar with because I'm not proficient in the terms and procedures you describe which is probably easy for experts to decipher and understand but not for me.

I've had years of experience on VATSIM but when it comes to severs and clients, I don't even know what they are in your world.

Could you kindly look at my previous message in detail and give me a 1, 2, 3, etc. step guide as to what I have to do to get back on please?

Thanks so much! Hope you understand.

Mike

From https://audio.vatsim.net/docs/2.0/pilots/xsb :

Step 1: Download and install the latest version of xSquawkbox. (https://audio.vatsim.net/downloads/xsquawkbox)

Step 2: Download and install the Audio for VATSIM standalone client. (https://audio.vatsim.net/downloads/standalone)

Step 3: Connect to the network using xSquawkbox in the normal way.

Step 4: Launch the Audio for VATSIM software.

The first time you run the standalone client, be sure to open settings and calibrate your microphone. When talking, the bar should be bouncing into the green band. If it does not, make sure you increase the mic volume using the slider.

Don't forget to [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ign a Push-to-talk!

Step 5: You must specify the IP address of the machine under 'simulator settings' where X-Plane is located. By default, this will [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ume you are running X-Plane on the same machine unless otherwise specified.

Let us know if you have any problems!

I re-installed following the five steps suggested in your last message, checked mic level etc.calibrated all settings and preferences.

I went online and I still cannot get voice, I can see other fliers' planes, I can dial up the list of controllers online, I can contact them successfully using text but I can't talk to them and they can't talk to me. everything works except voice.

The audio for VATSIM standalone client is installed in the plugins folder along the SquawkBox folder, when I connect, i select SquawkBox like I did in the past, when I click on the Standalone icon, nothing happens except tell me it's a docomeent.

Any help possible with this? do you need extra information?

Thanks!

Hello Michael,

pls be sure check what Standalone icon/app you're execute. Maybe you clicked on wrong deputy. Steps are:

1. start XP

2. start XSB and connect as usually.

3. start standalone app better with Admin rights (click on app with right mouse button and select Run as Administrator).

4. check again Settings - if you have Standalone app on PC with XP, click on that button you are on same PC or set there 127.0.0.1 (also check docomeentation for this).

5. set as PTT some key or joystick button.

6. click Aply and OK if it's visible.

7. If you're sure all settings are ok, click Connect.

Set ATC freq online visible or Unicom and try push your PTT. Check on Standalone app TX must be colored orange in time of transmission. In case of someone talking on freq. also RX must be orange. Hope you'll be lucky...

Hello Ivan,

I followed your instructions, I just cannot get and receive voice, everything else works, I even get ATIS reports via audio.

My PTT mic is set up properly, I get its icon in the top right corner of my screen when I speak, I checked radio volume and all other settings and everything seems OK. One thing that puzzles me is I download the Audio for VATSIM standalone client, but I am not sure I am installing it properly, I cannot open it. I tried putting it in the plugins folder, in the x-plane 11 folder, and I suspect this is what I am not doing properly. Could you guide me on how to open this and install it where it should go? Any other words of advice would also be appreciated, I'm at a dead end.

Thank you!

Michael,

You are running on windows right? If so just double click the MSI file and follow the installer.

If you are on MAC or Linux you need to look at using Swift : https://dev.swift-project.org/phame/post/view/17/swift_and_afv/

Hello, guys!

I'm having the same issue here, but with xPilot client. Here's what I running:

OS: Windows 10 Version 1903

X-Plane 11.36 - Steam Version

xPilot Client Version 1.1.0.2 (running as administrator)

I've set up everything following the manual, but still can't transmit voice or receive. I can see the text messages from ATC and other aircrafts, though. Also, I set the PTT key, but nothing happens when I push it. My TX button doesn't light up, neither the RX.

I'm also using Voicemeeter to handle my audio connections, but I set up them in xPilot and have no problems at all with other applications (like Discord, Spotify, etc.).

Since it did'nt worked, I tried Swift with the AFV standalone plugin, but can't get anything either. I can connect via Swift, but when I launch AFV standalone, I hit "Connect" and about 10 seconds latter it disconnects automatically, without any error message.

I also have a friend who is facing the same problem. We tried to go to an empty airfield and test it via UNICOM, but didn't work either (I can't hear him and vice versa).

And a last information: I live in Brazil and my internet connection has 75 MBps download and upload.

Any ideas about what's happening?

Fabio,

The issue is your aircraft radio stack is not configured correct to listen or TX on either radio as we read those correctly in both Standalone and xPilot.

However that said you might be using an aircraft we have not used yet that uses different data refs.

Make sure COM1 RX knob is turned up and turned on, and that you have selected a COM1 TX button.

What aircraft are you using?

Cheers

Gary

Hey Gary, thanks for the support. Actually I'm using the default BE58 and the C172 to do the tests. I can see the TX and RX text turn white when I select the COM1 or 2 in my radio. But when I press my PTT key, the TX doesn't light up as I saw in some videos, neither the RX button. I have all set: battery on, avionics on, COM1 in the right frequency, COM1 mic selected and RX also on, but can't hear anything. I also tried to turn the volume up, but didn't hear anything too.

There are other two things I noticed. First one is I get a "Disconnected from voice server: Lost connection" almost every time I start the xPilot client. I hit "Connect" and about 10 seconds later I get this message. So I hit disconnect, wait more 10 seconds and try again. From the second time on, I don't get the error anymore. And second, I receive some box error messages from the xPilot, and I think it's related to the NetFramework. I'll try to take a screen when it happens again. I have updated my NetFramework already, but the error persists.

Sure, I'll.

I see 2 Log folders in xPilot folder (PluginLogs and NetworkLogs). Should I upload these?

Hello Michael,

Gary is right with his idea, pls tell us for first what OS you're use - Win10, other? This is most important to know now, also Gary as specialist need logically to know this. His answer about used SW Client due your OS is important message for you. If I can answer about (let we say you're on Win OS) install of Standalone app, Gary already answer to you steps. Pls think for sure, don't move installed directory of Client somewhere else as is installed. I think you have installed Standalone Client app because I see some infos about PTT and Sound device set inside it, good I understand? Also you mentioned that you can listen to some ATIS. Really now I'm confused about your infos that you don't know about Standalone Client app how to start it because you can listen to ATIS and simply your Client is running and working. Probably i see still some problem inside your aircraft, check that (in case of Cessna 172 load it for tests) COM radio eqipment if button COM1 is ON (Gree LED) and in case of transmitting, your COM1MIC is also ON, this is important to have set. Hope you'll find clue
