.NET crash PTT

Hi

I decided to give vatsim a try because of the new audio system. Yesterday I tried using Xsquawkbox with X-plane 11 and I couldnt get it to work. I downloaded the required vatsim audio software but when I started the program nothing came up. After reinstalling it 3-4 times it started working. I [Mod - Happy Thoughts]igned my mic and went through the settings, but whenever I pressed my push to talk key a microsoft .net error came up.

I decided to drop the idea and go to sleep.

So today when I saw the release of the Xpilot client I thought i would give it another try. Unfortunately the same exact problem appeared when I pressed PTT.

Did you install the Bluebell CSL Library?

If yes make sure you also installed the latest IVAO_Vert_Offset with the CSL library.

If that does not work either try reinstalling/updating the xPilot client.

And if none are working wait for an DEV to reply.

(You can find the bluebell csl library at this link https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/files/file/37041-bluebell-obj8-csl-packages/)

(You can find CSL installation instructions at http://xpilot.clowd.io/docs under "Model Matching")

What PTT device are you using? Have you tried setting a keyboard PTT as a workaround for now, or do you get the same error?

Hi, i have also had the same error, which once i get disconnects me from the voice system and doesnt reconnect until i drop off the network and back on again.

Hi, yeah, when using my keyboard as a PTT button and when I'm using a button on my joystick. In the xPilot client I get the error:

I installed the latest Media Feature Pack (which was a pain) but I still get the same error..

I have the same issue reported over here https://forums.vatsim.net/viewtopic.php?f=157&t=79911.

What I noticed when I had this last night was how the functionality of xPilot didn't seem to be affected as long as I didn't confirm the error message dialogue box. I was able to complete my flight and talking to ATC all the way to my destination.

Which of course was a good thing. But still something clearly isn't right since this error message pops up every now and then.

I'm not fully sure it's related to pressing the PTT button/key since in my case, seeing this error message has been random I would say. I certainly don't get it every time I press PTT.

My best guess is this is related to the version of .NET Framework and how it seems xPilot isn't fully compatible with 4.8.

if I can say about .NET version:

XP11+XSB (PC1) and standalone on another NTB (Win7 Home x64). After first time start standalone app, system reported requirement of install .NET on my NTB. after my permission, NET 4.8 start download and install. Logically I restarted my NTB and all is working, but standalone app. No problems with PTT or other exception due some .NET version. Maybe I ask what way was about install of .NET on your PC? Manual install/selection of some .NET version? What version of your OS x32 or x64? This is important to know. Maybe I recommend reinstall/rerpair of .NET to see resolving your issue.

I'm on Win10 Pro x64 and I can't recall being prompted to install .NET 4.8. It was already there when I checked 'Turn Windows features on or off'.

I doubt there's anything to repair since I've never seen this error until I started using xPilot the other day. Also, since multiple people are seeing the same error, it seems a bit unlikely IMO all these people would have a broken .NET?

hmm I see some problems with .NET 4.8 on Win10 on web reported from many users, how about some Win fixes/updates? Are there some of them installed? I see some KBxxxx but really don't know about that. My idea is simply leave Sim on alone PC (Win10 Home x64) without any other usage and if it can be solved, use of some Clients/apps on external other PC which situation now also have (NTB Win7 Home x64 .Net 4.8 Standalone app). This is simply mandatory for me in case of use Win10 which is ok/nok for more reasons.

My Windows 10 is fully up-to-date as for MS fixes and I only have one PC.

Not sure if I understood your post correctly, that you suggest having separate computers for X-Plane and in this case xPilot and other things you use your computer for?

And again, having X-Plane on the same PC where I'm also doing other things has never been an issue until now when I started using xPilot.

We are aware of one or two joystick controllers causing issues with PTT selection. Could you try unplugging all your devices and narrow down which one it is.

I'm using vJoy with a Brunner yoke.

Could vJoy be the culprit?

Still though, I've been able to use PTT many times without seeing the error message.

It was working with the Logitech Yoke and Throttle Quadrant. Then later last evening went to fly again and it stopped working and started throwing the error message.

yes, maybe I sugest that but pls consider that xPilot can't be probably set up on other PC, simply I don't see there IP of Server, only Port which I understand for sure of XP11 UDP port. Ok, no problem, simply my experience give me some ideas to not have or fight with more problems that I want have Good luck and hope you solve your problems with Devs help.

Well I tried uninstalled the latest security update which includes .NET 4.8, and no matter what I do upon restart it comes back. I hope the XPilot team can figure this out sooner than later. In the meantime I will have to switch to another client.

The problem in my opinion is the most current version of Net framework 4.8. Program's like xPilot require that your system has version 1.4.7. You can have several versions on your system. That's because they are not backwards compatible. Older prgs might break with a new purchase of windows. Because they run off of an older version. So i too am getting these errors. I do have an Eclipse CH Yoke. And also have problems with the PPT. But the run as administrator seams to have fixed that. It could also be a power issue with USB handling. Who knows. But this is my theory. If you make the new xPilot cross compatible with both net framework 1.4.7 and 4.8 that all these errors will go away. It's either that or a lot of people will need to follow pretty complicated steps to uninstall the 4.8 v 1st, then install the older v 147 and then again 4 8. Because you shouldn't install an older one with the current v running. See very confusing and that's why I'm not an IT guy. Please update xPilot to work with 4.8 as well... Thanks.

xPilot is targeted at 4.7 not 1.4.7. Where are you seeing this 1.4.7 number?
