Hey friends of vatsim network. I know maybe I'm wrong in submiting this topic here but, I want to know what happen with servinfo dataservers. 2 weeks ago everything works fine with this software, but since the data servers migration of vatsim, servinfo is not working, I don´t know maybe you could guide me which are the new data servers so maybe I can edit servinfo data servers included on ti?

Thanks in advance!!!

Javier,

Check whether this may help ...

Locate servinfo.ini file on your computer.

Update the line to indicate:

VATSIM Servers Locator Url=http://status.vatsim.net/

Save servinfo.ini, re-start ServInfo.

(*instead of: VATSIM Servers Locator Url=http://status.vatsim.net/data)

Alternatively, a cached list of servers may usually be retrieved in ServInfo by holding the Shift key and clicking the VATSIM download button.

Hope this helps, otherwise ... try the sub-forum for Servinfo:

I don't know if I had the same problem as Javier,

I had to hold SHIFT and click the VATSIM logo to get it going as the initial error message suggested..

Mike's solution did the trick for me!

Thank you Mike!

I also have a "Forbidden" error when trying to get METAR of any airport.

This one started like 6 months ago..

You wouldn't know how to fix that one too by any chance Mike, would you?

As Andreas mentions, it appears there was a change in the source data so that in ServInfo, the 'down arrow' button to 'download and display weather', on the map, for a Region (multiple stations), no longer works.

It seems to get stuck after returning just one or two station metar reports.

However it is still possible to retrieve metar information through ServInfo, on a per station basis using the airport Code.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for quick reply Andreas and Mike!

I never use the down arrow button..

I get this error when looking up any single aiport's ICAO code.

"Forbidden ... METAR data could not be retrieved"

Anything else I could try?

hi Jan,

(a) If there is a file called VATSIM.loc on the computer with ServInfo files (si202), is there a line in that file like this:

metar0=http://metar.vatsim.net/metar.php

or

(b) Weather-related info in the ServInfo forum may help.

Board index » Members Helping Members » Other Software » ServInfo

... which mentions: http://metar.vatsim.net/metar.php?id=ALL

or

© To check/compare respective ServInfo files (to identify and update whichever one includes source for metar retrieval), consider clicking on the PM button (below this message) to send a reply.

i.e. single-station metar works for me, it doesn't when you try in ServInfo ... perhaps it can be fixed.

As Andreas mentions, it appears that ServInfo's Region wx download was retrievable from NOAA.

... but maybe the per-station metar is downloaded from another source.

I checked my VATSIM.loc file and it does have that line correct: metar0=http://metar.vatsim.net/metar.php

Must be something else but I don't know where to look anymore..

The fact it does work for some like you makes me believe it's something that can be fixed somehow..

Thanks!

my friend, I did the following steps as you suggested:

""""""Javier,

Check whether this may help ...

Locate servinfo.ini file on your computer.

Update the line to indicate:

VATSIM Servers Locator Url=http://status.vatsim.net/

Save servinfo.ini, re-start ServInfo.

(*instead of: VATSIM Servers Locator Url=http://status.vatsim.net/data)

Alternatively, a cached list of servers may usually be retrieved in ServInfo by holding the Shift key and clicking the VATSIM download button."""""

-------------------------------------------------

But nothing happen, when I initialize servinfo, and holding down shift+click mousse, appears a window with several servers (4 servers) that cannot download info alternatively. This servers are:

- info.vroute.net

- data.vattastic.com

- vatsim.aircharts.com

- vatsim-data.hardern.net

Servinfo goes find those servers and appear a error message saying the amount of days ago since download the last current online fligths.

Please help, I love servinfo!!!

To see whether it might help, try this ...

Close ServInfo

Locate the file ipaddr.txt (within the servinfo directory, si202)

Copy and paste this into that file, save it and close the file.

165.22.239.218 CANADA
157.230.25.177 GERMANY-1
68.183.185.148 SINGAPORE
107.191.56.188 SYD-1
209.97.177.84 UK-1
134.209.67.219 USA-EAST
165.22.163.56 USA-WEST

Launch ServInfo application

-wait until the application start-up completes and then

Hold the Shift key down and click the VATSIM download button.

XcwM4l.jpg

Other files to check .....

Does content of VATSIM.LOC file look like this ...

120218:NOTCP
url0=http://us.data.vatsim.net/vatsim-data.txt
url0=http://eu.data.vatsim.net/vatsim-data.txt
url0=http://apac.data.vatsim.net/vatsim-data.txt
url1=http://us.data.vatsim.net/vatsim-servers.txt
url1=http://eu.data.vatsim.net/vatsim-servers.txt
url1=http://apac.data.vatsim.net/vatsim-servers.txt
servers.live=http://us.data.vatsim.net/vatsim-servers.txt
servers.live=http://eu.data.vatsim.net/vatsim-servers.txt
servers.live=http://apac.data.vatsim.net/vatsim-servers.txt
servers.dev=http://us.data.vatsim.net/servers-dev.txt
metar0=http://metar.vatsim.net/metar.php
atis0=http://stats.vatsim.net/atis.html
user0=http://stats.vatsim.net/search_id.php
voice0=afv

To avoid need to use Shift key, (as previously suggested) servinfo.ini file should include:

[ConnectionParameters]
VATSIM Servers Locator Url=http://status.vatsim.net/

Hope this might help.

"However, I can only download the data by holding down the SHIFT key and pressing the VATSIM icon.
Where is that .ini file?
Is it the Servinfo configuration settings file? Everytime I insert [replace], http://status.vatsim.net/ in the file and then restart Servinfo, the old web address http://usa-s1.vatsim.net/data is showing in the file..... Not sure why."

Wherever servinfo has been installed on the computer, there should be a folder called si202, or similar.
The servinfo.ini file is in that folder.
When searching the computer's hard drive using windows, did it find servinfo.ini?
Was it possible to open servinfo.ini using Notepad or some equivalent?
Was the ServInfo application closed before making the change to servinfo.ini?
Was the line (VATSIM Servers Locator) changed in servinfo.ini as described, saved, and then closed, and then re-start Servinfo?
Was the existing line changed as described, or was a new line inserted as an additional line?

"Update the line to indicate" means:
Change FROM: VATSIM Servers Locator Url=http://status.vatsim.net/data
Change TO:

[ConnectionParameters]
VATSIM Servers Locator Url=http://status.vatsim.net/

Quote
Locate servinfo.ini file on your computer.

Update the line to indicate:

VATSIM Servers Locator Url=http://status.vatsim.net/

Save servinfo.ini, re-start ServInfo.

(*instead of: VATSIM Servers Locator Url=http://status.vatsim.net/data)

Hope this helps.

Hi Jose,

To remove display of duplicates, see whether this helps ...

In ServInfo, click on Options and select 'Display Preferences'.
In the popup box, check the box for 'Hide Prefiled'. Click OK.
Reload the data by clicking on the VATSIM button (top left).
