Division: VATCAN (Canada)

Position Vacancy: Vancouver FIR Webmaster

Do you have experience with developing, and maintaining websites? The Vancouver FIR is looking for someone like you! We are currently seeking a webmaster. This job will involve developing, and maintaining the Vancouver FIR's website. 

Reports to: CZVR Chief & Deputy Chief


Responsible for:

  • Developing and maintaining the FIRs official website
  • Maintaining an online presence on the network, and in FIR Discord Channels, VATCAN TeamSpeak, and forum.
  • Frequently checking and responding to emails as required
  • Any other duties assigned by the FIR Chief, Deputy Chief, and/or Chief Instructor.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Be an active member of the network, in good standing
  • Be a member of CZVR, or be willing to transfer
  • Hold an S1 rating of higher
  • Experience with Object Orientated Programming (ex: C#, PHP, etc)
  • Must be proficient with HTML and CSS
  • Experience working with databases (such as MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB, etc)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Willing to attend an interview

Useful Skills/Experience:

  • Proficiency in PHP, HTML, CSS and/or JavaScript
  • Experience working with REST APIs
  • Experience working with OAuth (OAuth2 preferably)
  • Experience working with Git

Note: Don't be afraid to apply! We are not specifically seeking individuals with real-world credentials, and many members in VATCAN, and other divisions on VATSIM in technical roles (such as webmasters) are hobbyists, and enjoy programming on the side.
