New Student Controller with some questions!

Good Morning All,

 

I have recently p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]ed my VATUSA basic controller exam with a score of 95 out of 100. I am a little confused as of right now as to how to proceed. Now that I've p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]ed the initial test, what is my next step? I've downloaded VRC as well as ASRC and I must say, I prefer VRC. We can use VRC as our scope for Vatsims network correct? I am learning the basic steps of using this program, however im having some problems of my own with the program (but thats a seperate issue). Anyways, Theres so much info to take in that I feel like I might just be on overload from trying to take in so much over the past couple days. So perhaps im missing something that may be very obvious. But like I said, could someone point me in the right direction? Thanks for all the help guys. I hope to be controlling very soon.

If you are prusuing a virtual ATC career within VATUSA, please complete the following steps:

 

Take the Basic Controller Exam:

Upon p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]ing this exam, you will be promoted to a Student 1 and able to select your ARTCC.

 

After deciding on an ARTCC and having the included p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word (denoted below) use the following link to join your ARTCc.

NOTE:Important If you were; at one time a member of an ARTCC; DO NOT use the function noted above. Please use the transfer request form located on the left hand side menu. Likewise, if you are brand new to this and have never been in an ARTCC, DO NOT use the transfer form, only use the pickartcc function mentioned here.

 

Here are the p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]words for the ARTCCs! Make sure to read up on your artcc at http://eval.vatusa.org

What have I done wrong? I would like to be a new controller. I followed the instructions repeated above but the outcome was not as described. I wrote and p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]ed the test on http://www.vatusa.org/certcenter/index.php, received an email promoting me to student 2. Nowhere can I find out what student 2 is, everywhere states I should now be a student 1. I even did a search in these forums. I cannot join an ARTCC as I get a message stating "You must first p[Mod - Happy Thoughts] the observer/pilot test on www.vatusa.org/training before selecting an ARTCC." and I have looked and looked for this test and cannot seem to find it. I'm quite sure the answer is probably right in front of my face, but I can't see it. Thanks in advance for all that help. John.

The e-mail you received promoted you to "Student 1 (2)"

 

The (2) means that you are at the second level of VATSIM ratings, although that rating is called "Student 1"

 

VATSIM level (1) is Pilot/Observer. (2) is Student 1, (3) is Student 2, (4) is Student 3, (5) is Controller 1, and so on up all the way to Administrator. So if you are (2), you are the correct rating, which is Student 1.

 

So, refer back to Tom's post, and skip to the joining the ARTCC part. Go to the http://www.vatusa.org/pick_artcc.php link, enter your CID/P[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word, select the ARTCC, and enter the appropriate p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word for the ARTCC that Tom listed.

 

If you are still getting an error there, then contact VATUSA1, VATUSA2, or VATUSA3 to have them double check your test and rating records. Their e-mail addresses are available on the VATUSA Staff page.

When people complain of p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]ing the exam but not able to select an artcc it usually this error.....

 

The student taking the test hit the submit button more than once. Sometimes the test taker accidently double clicks the button, putting two test resuts in their record.

 

Essentially what happens is that the two results cancel each other out. If this is the case, all an admin will have to do is to delete one of the test results and you should be on your way.

 

Probably best to follow Steve's advice and contact 1,2 and or 3 so they can check it out.

 

Not saying this is the excat case, but I have seen it a few times before, especially since you got a "promotion" email.

Matt's responce seems to be the case....

 

You should receve an email from somthing simmilar to [email protected] that is semi vague. In the email you will find a link, if you go there you should see a meesage from me
