Hey!

I have a very very strange issue with VRC on my Vista machines. The text on screen has garbage in it as seen in this image here...

I uninstalled it the first time, and made sure that the font file for VRC was gone from the Fonts folder. I created a folder in my home directory [C:\Users\Skoby\VLC\] and installed it there, both times were with adminstrator rights. I even tried running with admin rights and thus the problem still presented itself. Does anyone have a known fix for this issue? The issue also presents itself on my Vista notebook.

Heres my system info incase anyone requires it.

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600

8GB RAM

Vista X64

Nvidia 9750GTX 512MB

English and Norsk bokmål (Norwegian) [Was run with English, just incase its relevant]

Thanks,

Generally when the text is that messed up, it's not a problem with the font install. Instead, it's a problem with your video driver. In *most* cases, upgrading to the latest version of the video driver has fixed it ... sometimes even downgrading the driver version helps. With Vista, I've heard that many of the video drivers have poor OpenGL support, so there may not be anything you can do but wait for a new driver release.

If you do fix it, please be sure to post information here.

Okay I have a little update on this issue. I was using the drivers for the devices that were being pumped down through Windows Update. The drivers, rather strangly did not have full OpenGL support in them, even though all of the cards have magnificent support and optimizations built in. I decided to run tests on various systems, including my D3D10 development machine with a Nvidia 8800 and heres my results.

Nvidia 7600 GS - Fully working with driver version 7.15.11.6222 dated 7/6/2007 downloaded from Nvidia.com [Vista X86]

Nvidia 7950 GTX - Fully working with driver version 7.15.11.6222 dated 7/6/2007 downloaded from Nvidia.com [Vista X64]

Nvidia 8800 GTX - Fully working with driver version 7.15.11.6222 dated 7/6/2007 downloaded from Nvidia.com [Vista X64]

Oh and since i was doing testing.. thought i'd give her a go on my source control server... she even works on linux under wine :p
