SIDSSTARS Section

Hi,

Not always SIDs and STARs have waypints and it happens that a radial, DME arc, etc. have to be followed. Is there any way to "program" such situations in the SIDSSTARS section of the *.ese file?

Thanks,

Hello Lluis,

Negative. What we have done to make SIDs/STARs look good on the screen (not the ESE part, because it is not really a factor there) was to flying the procedure in FS. I don't know how the coordinated have been saved, but I think simply logging the action in ES must have been the way they did it.

Hi,

Thanks.

As you know, most FMCs allow geographical coordinates or "fix/radial/distance" to define a point. I wondered if we could use something like this to draw almost perfect procedures on the screen.

I supposse that the "coordinates" system is related to programing. Perhaps Gergely can work on it for future versions so this section can be improved regarding depiction of terminal procedures.

Again thanks,

Hi Lluis,

Yeah, the idea is not bad. Also another smart thing that one of my friends keeps repeating to me is having the option to decide on which side of the FIX symbol should the FIX name appear. Now only having it on the right side is possible, while is real life systems (for example MATIAS as well) have that option. But again, our SCT file has a limitation and we should not edit it for this reason, but in the ASR file we could have it easily. I will upload a bad quality photo about it. Gergely, how about this? Transition fixes on the final for our parallel runways are a good example for this, where we need it.

I believe that a label is normally not needed as we usually control a well know area. In could be also a box to check or not wether we wish the label of the SID/STAR or not.

By the way, the VRC commands allowing to display fixes (.ff) or VORs (.fv) or ndbs (.fn) was very helpful. I use to work largely using the keyboard. Any chance to have this kind of shortcuts?

Cheers,

Hi all,

It seems that .ff, .fv and .fn functions are really required. W will add them to the next release.

To display the SIDs' and STARs' names I suggest you to use the FREETEXT feature.

Arcs. Originally I started to display only items from the SCT file. There were no arcs so I did not programmed them. I put it to the wish list.

Very good point the shortcuts for the fixes, vors and ndbs. Please think about the possibility of only display de navaid or fix position instead of all name and frequency. Normally we know which fix or navaid is and only in special cases we may activate the name and/or frequency.

DME Arcs may not be specially needed if we can use the geographical coordinates and maybe will save programming effort.

Thanks,

Gergely,

Please tell us the trick... I always keep forgetting that... I hope you know what I mean, the "grey tick method".

Peter

Ps: I will add it to the FAQ, too!

Lluis,

That is available. You can switch on/off the symbol, the name and the frequency. Individually for all VOR, NDB or FIX. In the display settings dialog you can open the subtree below this elements.

The trick is docomeented in the http://euroscope.hu/wiki/index.php?page=Display_Settings. "Using this hierarchy tree it is quite easy to switch items on/off in groups. Clicking on the VOR check box all the items below this one follow its state and will be switched on or off accordingly. That is quite straightforward. On the other hand sometimes there is a need to change the settings on items grouped by their type. E.g. it is quite common that you would like to see all VOR's symbol and name but not the frequency. With this hierarchy you should click every frequency member one by one that is really boring. To speed up settings like this EuroScope offers the doubleclick function. First select the item you would like to change (e.g. VOR's frequency), then set the state to the desired at one item. Then make a doubleclick on that item and at once all items with the same name and level will follow it."

Thanks Gergely.

I did not understand that when I read it. Now it is perfectly understood.

I thought it worthwhile mentioning on the original issue, that Euroscope can display SIDs / STARs defined in the sectorfile in the original format with geo coordinates.
