I am now thinking of upgrading my graphics since I have a job now! lol [first job ]

I am thinking of getting the Geforce 8800, but I am not sure which one to get. Can you explain to me which one is better (or whats the difference?): the GTX and the GTS.

And btw wat is SLI? and should I get one with it?

Sorry I really don't have much knowledge about this kind of computer stuff...lol

Thanks in advance!

The performance of MSFS depends a lot more on the CPU than the GPU.

Get the RAM. 2 GB has helped me so much with FS.

If you are running FS9 upgrade to 2GB RAM first. As mentioned above the CPU is more important for FS9. To awnser your original question, the 8800GTX is better than the 88000GTS.

The 8800GTX is NOT as good as the new-gen 8800GTS 512MB version.

Depends really how you define "better". The GTX has the advantage of higher amount of memory, memory Interface and memory bandwith, whereas the GTS 512Mb has the advantage of higher Core, Shader and Memory clock speeds and a higher texture fill rate. On higher resolutions I believe the GTX is still marginally better, though you save alot of money buying the GTS so I agree, that would be a good choice.

Well first off there really isn't too much difference in performance between the 8800 GTS/GT as compared to the GTX. Nothing you'll ever notice in FSX and definitely only a slight performance advantage in FS9. The real advantage is the 768 ram but thats not really an advantage since nothing supports or requires that much ram. Remember most games are built with the expectation that it will run on an XBOX360...

As far as the comparison between the 8800 GTS/GT is simple. Its the same identical chip but its clocked slight higher on the GTS cards. Basically the "pick of the litter". Also the GT requires only 1slot where the GTS is 2 slots.

SLI is basically a different form factor as compared to the standard ATX systems. It allows the parallel use of two NVIDIA graphics cards or more. This is more of an option you should consider when pricing a new system not upgrading an old one. Also it has no benefit in standard VGA systems. It is ultimately aimed at those running at 1920x1200 or higher. As for Flight Simulator it makes a marginal difference, nothing that is consistant or even noticable. Flight Simulator will require a software rewrite to take advantage of this, where as other programs render the entire screen uniformly thus allowing the GPU to split up the work without software rewrites.
