Fixing problems of ServInfo and VATBOOK (formerly EUROBOOK)

Hi there,

in case that you are or were downloading VATBOOK's data within ServInfo (using the button "EUROBOOK"), you may be interested in an update for it, since the URL has changed!

You know that you cannot get the latest data when, upon pushing the EUROBOOK-button, you receive an error-message saying "List of available servers cannot be retrieved".

To resolve this problem, just follow these 2 simple steps:

Using a text-editor, open the file servinfo.ini and find the entry

Network02 Name=EUROBOOK
Network02 Url=http://www.geardown.de/eubooking/

Change the URL to read http://vatbook.euroutepro.com , resulting in the following:

Network02 Name=EUROBOOK
Network02 Url=http://vatbook.euroutepro.com

Save the file and restart ServInfo. You are done!

Ohhh that explains, and I thought it was something temporary.

Thanks Andreas.

ServInfo still rocks, with a push of a button you can see booked ATC positions sorted by start time, callsign etc. very usefull if you want to choose a route based on ATC (booked) presence.

Absolutely. I use that feature every time I plan a flight. No other app does it.

While on the subject, I notice that most times I will get a warning that the data is "old", usually somewhere between 15 and 19 minutes old.

By choosing to display the outdated data, I can proceed to the EUROBOOK page anyway.

As far as you know, is there any way to increase what the "outdated" threshold is to avoid the warning?

I love how the seemingly complicated things sometimes can be so simple. Thanks Kyp.

...and as an explanation why there are "old" files on the server: the "booking-file" is generated only every 10 in 10 minutes, to save server-load.

I'll increase the frequency to 1 in 5 minutes to avoid the message.

Any ideas why EUROBOOK http://www.geardown.de/eubooking/ does not feed ServInfo ?

Does it also not feed others like VROUTE and websites indicating bookings ?

Hi Kyp,

the feed from "geardown.de" has been turned off already years ago, that's why you had to change from that to vatbook.euroutepro.com at that time. Since EUROBOOK was succeeded by VATBOOK, which is located on Michal's server, there is no need to feed data from geardown.de - it does not exist anymore at all.

That explains it.

I was browsing with ServInfo from a PC I don't usually use it where I obviously have missed to update the URL.

In the other PC I have updated it and that is why I thought it was a recent issue. Thanks

Apologies for the confusing post above.

I thought that the geardown.de URL was the updated one and that I had it updated to all the PC's. I simply did not bother reading carefully the post above
