Winds Aloft

I am using MSFS2004 and Squawbox 4 (I had the same issue using SB3). MSFS has the "download winds aloft" box checked, and I'm flying online, so it should be Squawkbox weather that appears.

However, I never indicate the reported winds aloft.

For example, overflying FLO today at FL370, I had winds of 190/13. The winds aloft forecast from aviationweather.noaa.gov was 2529247 for FL340 and 259056 for FL390.

Is this an issue that Squawkbox doesn't download them? Is it a technical problem somewhere else?

Maybe the downloaded winds aren't from the NOAA site?

Thanks for any help or ideas.

Vatsim seems to have terrible inaccurate winds aloft with both squawk box and x-plane. With fs9 and fsx, i would just use real world weather, which makes the winds aloft correct to real world. With X-plane your pretty much out of luck to get real world winds. The best bet just fly with no winds and set the weather update time to 0 minutes so it never updates the incorrect winds.

Highly recommend getting Active Sky 6.5 http://www.hifisim.com/ it is payware. but its worth it to me.

It has Realistic weather data access and some realistic atmospheric effects such as updrafts and downdrafts effected by terrain and wind, vertical air currents, thermals, wake turbulence, fog layers or icing in clouds with configurable options. ASv6.5 providing real-time METAR/TAF/Aloft information, decoded weather display, custom station weather fetches, and a handy Weather Plan / Navigation Log interface.

just go to

http://www.hifisim.com/ and read more on it if your interested.
