3D Radar Mode

Do a/c report the direction they're facing, or does VRC just guess based on which way they've moved? Sometimes during pushback things look kinda strange, and I'm trying to figure out why.

Yes, aircraft report their heading.

Remember though that the trend vector prediction shows where the aircraft will be in Xmiles/minutes and the dots show where the aircraft was in the previous X radar paints.

 

This is based on location, and which direction the aircraft is moving, not the direction the nose is pointing. Thus if the aircraft is travelling backwards, the trend vector will be sticking out it's back, because in a minute or whatever time you have set for your trend vector, the aircraft will be at that location behind itself. Also in previous radar sweeps, the aircraft was originally in a position forward of it's current location.

 

Not sure how that appears in anything other than TAAATS mode since that's what I use (Australia) but in some it may appear that the aircraft reversed heading without turning.

Trent, he's asking about the 3D mode, which actually renders a 3D depiction of the aircraft ... looks like a little paper airplane almost.
