Dear VATSIM Members,

Released 01/15/2009 0015Z:

Our new website is now online at www.vatcaf.org ! This site features live tracking, flight booking, controller and VA partner integration options and a built in communication system. Our developer, Tony Kovacs, is working hard to finish the additional modules and enhancements for our member's enjoyment!

VATSIM Central Africa's developement is picking up speed and I will highlight developements:

**VATCAF has formally adopted the FIR model and is in the process of phasing out the vACC model to more closely simulate operations as they are done in the real world. More details to come!

The following FIR's are under development and recruiting controllers:

DNKK Kano (Nigeria) FIR

HKNA Nairobi (Kenya) FIR

FNAN Luanda (Angola) FIR

HCSM Mogadishu (Somalia) FIR (UN MOVCON)

The following FIRs are fully active and operational:

FZZA/FCCC Kinshasa (DRC) Brazzaville (Congo) FIR

DGAC Accra (Ghana) FIR

**VATCAF Division Staff:

Thomas Mathieu-Director

Vacant-Deputy Director

Tony Kovacs-Director, ATC Training

Marco Balzarotti-Director, Pilot Training

Alex Cohrs-Director, Events

To contact any staff member, click on the contact button at www.vatcaf.org .

**VATCAF Controller Group:

The VATCAF group of controllers is a small, but dedicated group. All of our controllers speak English and are online throughout the day. Our airport and airspace procedures are very similar to Europe and the USA. Several of our controllers are native to Central Africa or have real world ATC experience there.

Our staff is making huge efforts to publish as many charts as possible.

You can expect IFR and VFR procedures to be much the same as your favorite destinations. If you have not flown in Central Africa before, we invite you to give it a try! We feature at least one event per month.

If you are interested in becoming a controller within VATCAF, visit our web site at www.vatcaf.org , take a moment to browse the site and fill out an app. We are accepting controllers from OBS rating on up.

Best Regards,

Thomas Mathieu
