I've been following this thread for several months:

If you have some spare time, it's a good history of recent CPUs, pricing and what's coming out. I mention it today because it looks like the Intel i5 Lynnfields will be released in September. This seems to be the Holy Grail FS9 processor because the i5 can overclock itself by several hundred megahertz if it has only a single core under heavy load. You know, like FS9.

 

Of course, having 4 cores with HyperThreading might not be too shabby for FSX either.....

Yes Aggery, I am currently running the i7 and is a fantastic processor. However it's not all about the CPU, if you have an underpowered GPU then it really isn't 'all that'. But alas, I'm sure you know this, I'm mearly sharing my own mistake in the hope others don't follow suit.
