#511092 Awesome! I was really hoping to see Orlando this year.

And maybe for the first time in years, the T7 won't be the only airplane I see........

Wait

#511139 Nice airports, indeed! For the arrival airports, quiet usual airports but nice anyway! :)

Ryan: Could you please push your team in order to use CPDLC (Hoppie) for the event?
It could help all of us, its calming down the frequencies and its increasing the realism.

It should be used by all controllers just in case someone is using it from the pilot point of view.
Here as well an installation sheet: http://files.flying-fox.de/forum/vatsim ... _1.2.2.pdf

Thanks a lot :)

This has been discussed in the past and I can almost assure you it won't be used. A majority of the people working Shanwick/Gander have not used the software. I've tried it before and in terms of position reports and all - I've found it quicker to punch in things to a spreadsheet while someone is speaking. Until our clients can link directly to hoppie and respond with the correct info, I don't think CPDLC will be used. Perhaps if Morten could implement it into oca.vnas it would be possible, but that software itself is still way ahead of being used for CTP.

It's something that we've looked into, but as Josh has said, we aren't in a position to use it full time for the event. Some controllers may choose to use it, but we are not officially using it for this event. It definitely is on our radar though.

Hehe... I see what you did there...

Saying "it's on our flight strips" would have been slightly awkward :D

#511167 At least its on something ;)
And its not possible for the organisation to plan one guy to maintain just for CPDLC usage?

I think there won't be so much users with CPDLC for the first time, so its maybe possible to handle the requests by one. I don´t know. But it could be a beginning. And as soon as swift is out, it will have something in the direction of a CPDLC implemented, this is sure. And maybe in the future, also PMDG/Aerosoft are going to implement it directly into the FMC/MCDU/cockpit. So maybe its a beginning?

We're usually tight on staffing as it is and it wouldn't be a good use of resources to put someone managing a tool that only some (fee) pilots use.

#511177 Ok - you're right. But maybe you can ask your group of controller if someone wants to use/provide it. If someone (like me :D ) is flying, I could ask my clearence by this guy then :)
Just in case, someone is able/ready to provide it :)

Could be nice! There is a group which is trying to push. VATSIM, swift and pilots to use it more. And maybe as soon as we get an own server with swift integration, it could be used by more pilots. For sure, the Hoppie software is ok - but I usually don´t like it to use 4-5 addons next to the sim.

Thanks to all! :) I am already excited for the westbound!

At the top of this thread, click the eye to subscribe. You'll get emails relating to replies. That's the only way to get a definitive opening time.

#511246 Indeed, it is time of the year again! Unfortunately, I ran out all of holiday leaves and they will not get renew until 2nd April, one week after this event. :( I am hoping that my employer is reading this thread and my post and decide to give me day off so I can cross the pond in my 777.....
