Air Traffic Controller Discussion With a Global Perspective

#514825 This http://www.diakonsolutions.com/atcuseit/images/StarsInputs2.JPG is the one typically used in FAA facilities (there is also a QWERTY keyboard http://i.imgur.com/bSKlK9e.jpg, but those are almost non-existent in FAA STARS facilities... seems the DOD is the only one that prefers it).

When my facility went STARS, I tried to get them to go QWERTY and we were told "You get what you get, and the FAA prefers the ABCD keyboards".

Interested as well. FYI: vSTARS does support the r/w inverted numpad via a settings flag in the config file so if you wanted to do the 100% accurate layout with 1-2-3 as the top numpad row and 7-8-9 as the bottom that would be usable as well.

I'm a masochist and I flipped my keypad at home to start getting used to it before I go to the Academy. ERAM is the same way.

Thanks, I didn't know that. I'll flip those then.
