Phillip Levy 1086899 Posted January 3, 2010 at 05:05 PM Posted January 3, 2010 at 05:05 PM So...I recently became the proud owner of some Orbyx/FTX Scenery. ( Mind you, everything up to installation was good). I installed it, no problems, loaded up FSX to witness the amazing photoreal scenery they advertised. As soon as I reached the "Free Flight" area of FSX I noticed a problem. Usually the Airtrike is the first a/c that is floating around in the aircraft box. This time there was no aircraft. Then I noticed in my "Location" square, what usually is "nuggs fly in" the default location, the box was blank. So I clicked to change my location and the only airports that came up were airports that I had scenery for. This happened and I had the box at the bottom that says "default airports" checked. So I clicked on a random aiport. Loaded up and there is no scenery. Nothing. All I see is the 2D cockpit and blue sky. So pressed F12(to see if I could view the world and continents, etc.) to see wtf was going on. Instead of zooming out of the world it zoomed out of the world at an angle (if this makes any sense) and all I saw was virtual atomsphere. No scenery, no land, no aircraft, nothing...I can't see anything... Something terrible has become of my Flight Sim. I tried to delete some scenery, though for some reason most of these companies don't give you an uninstall option. To no suprise, my FS is still messed up. ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED! Thanks, Phil See you in the virtual sky , Phillip Levy
Charan Kumar Posted January 6, 2010 at 06:31 AM Posted January 6, 2010 at 06:31 AM Hey Philip, I had a very similar incident today in my case it was a CYVR airport from somewhere in my HDD. All I saw was the Location box and then a bunch of Vancouver listings, of course I didn't wait to go into the sim, I immediately went to the scenery library and unchecked and then eventually deleted the area. I guess that is something you could try and eliminate one by one from the top to see which one causes a problem and then reinstall that one alone. BOL!! Phillip Levy 1086899 Posted January 6, 2010 at 06:35 AM Author Posted January 6, 2010 at 06:35 AM Charan, I unchecked all my sceneries...still am not seeing anything but blue skies. And no airports. I think I am gonna be reinstalling fsx... Does this mean I have to reinstall FSINN and all my WOAI stuff? Charan Kumar Posted January 6, 2010 at 06:48 AM Posted January 6, 2010 at 06:48 AM WOAi, just back 'em up form the airplanes folder, that's what I do, I have only installed it once, 5 mos ago and I just keep copying them back in. As for the registry, I am not sure how it works, but you can back it up and see if Larry can offer some help in the FSInn forums to restore the registry setting. If I have any success I will let you know!! The registry entry for the FSInn Aircraft Config mapping I mean. But before you give up also try avsim forums. Maybe there is a scenery.cfg somewhere that you can delete and let FSX reconstruct the data. Richard Gerrish Posted January 6, 2010 at 09:35 AM Posted January 6, 2010 at 09:35 AM its been awhile since i deleted a scenery.cfg file I believe its home is either C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Addon Scenery or C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Addon Scenery\scenery Richard Gerrish Developer, STM Applications Group
Paul Biderman Posted January 6, 2010 at 01:35 PM Posted January 6, 2010 at 01:35 PM Have you contacted Orbyx for support? Seems like if this happened after you installed their product then maybe it's something they're aware of? Paul Biderman ZAN DATM
Charan Kumar Posted January 6, 2010 at 04:20 PM Posted January 6, 2010 at 04:20 PM There is a scenery.cfg also present under the same folder where FSX.CFG resides, under docs and settings. So I am not sure which one!! FSX deals with it a whole lot different than FS9.
