Jonas Eberle Posted January 8, 2010 at 04:26 PM Posted January 8, 2010 at 04:26 PM Since some months I am trying to find the best way to manage cleared SIDs/STARs/RWYs. Our .ese is (as most are, I suppose) built in a way so that SIDs and STARs get selected automatically based on active runways. That is very helpful. But: The most common STAR (runway transition) is automatically selected, although it is not always cleared. Same for RWYs: as some major airports, we have constantly more than 1 active arrival runway - but the first mentioned in the .ese is selected together with the SID/STAR, although it might not have been to the pilot yet. For SIDs it is nice to see the auto-selected SID, but it has to be made sure that it is clicked on again so that it is ammended to the flightplan (for VRC compatibility). What I want to achieve is: keep track of clearances I really gave vs. those that have been calculated. make use of the powerful "magic" [Mod - Happy Thoughts]umptions the .ese allows What most controllers at EDDF do: write the runway expectations of approaching planes and the cleared STARs/transitions into the scratchpad to provide this information to the next controller or as a reminder for themselves (expected arrival runway). This way everything in scratchpad is a "real" clearance/given expectation, the EuroScope tag functions are "only" the calculated values. teach all students that, if using EuroScope, they must make sure that the SID is ammended to the flightpan. -> I do not like this solution... We have these nice EuroScope functions ("[Mod - Happy Thoughts]igned runway/SID/STAR" tag items), I would like to make full use of them. What I tried: adapt the .ese as to never automatically select STARs (remove the first waypoint and the [Mod - Happy Thoughts]igned runways) - advantage: nothing that has not been cleared is displayed; disadvantage: the STAR list is unnecessarily long (as all STARs, not only those for active runways, are displayed), the magic of the .ese has been disabled. Thus I would like to suggest: Allow different colors for calculated vs. [Mod - Happy Thoughts]igned RWYs/SIDs/STARs. How do others handle this situation? What do you think about different colors?
