problems getting started part 2

Thanks for you previous comments. I have tried them out and have now managed to get connected to vatsim, however it seems that I can hear everyone talking to each other but no-one can hear me even though I can hear myself through my headset. I have check all the mic settings that I can think of but still nothing has worked. Any ideas?

Yes I've set caps for my PTT. but still no-one can hear me. The server I am using says test server next to it. Could this be a reason?

i dont recommend the caps lock key as a PTT. there are keys that are essential which will not work as PTT's, my recommendation would be the left or right CTRL keys, whichever is easier

 

if you are on an active ATC frequency, shouldnt be any test server

go to this site and copy one of the ip addresses for the server nearest you then connect. Also check and be sure that there is active ATC at or around the airport you are trying to test your comms on. a list of everyone that is online is available on the vatsim homepage then click on who's online.

Hi, Alan. You might consider having your topic title show some idea of your issue or subject content of your message. This way when someone else has a similar issue they might be able to benefit from the feedback better by quick forum scan and see it’s similar to their problems.

 

The topic title might also quicker attract users who are experienced in the subject matter.

He’s most likely specifying the name/description of the server he used for his VATSIM connection. I’m sure they all work, even the one labeled “testing server”. He can’t specify a voice server. He can only do as you suggested, communicate on an active ATC frequency… which he appears to be doing since he can hear other pilots.
